Older electrician that is just beginning to learn about CP soaps. I have 32 pounds of lye in hand and other stuff on the way......................HELP ME

Thanks first and foremost Ms. Hazel. We would really appreciate advice on what "not to do" or beginners help until we can get the basics of CP and curing down pat. I will accept any and all critical uidance in the hope that we can produce a good soap. Thanks again for the response. I'll ask in the appropriate forum if I can find it. I have seen the Miller site and will reference it in the future as well.

There is a lot of information on this forum. I recommend you go back to the very beginning of the CP section and start reading. This is very time consuming so you'll probably want to space it out.

Less time consuming ways to get started is reading books and watching videos. :D

Some books that you might find helpful (if you don't have them already) are "The Everything Soapmaking Book" by Alicia Grosso and "Smart Soapmaking" by Anne L Watson. There are other books but these are the two that helped me.

There's also soapqueentv on youtube. Anne-Marie Faoila has several videos on learning the CP process.

Hello and welcome! I second not mixing your lye in Pyrex.

I also second Hazel's advice to go back to the beginning of the CP section and start reading. There's lots of wonderful info there.
