Getting botanicals to stick to top of HP

What is the best way to get things such as calendula petals to stick to the top of my HP soap? I've tried just pushing them down, but they don't stick well. Any ideas will be appreciated!

I use a skewer and push a part of them down. Thats the only way ive been able to make them stick.

Thanks! I really like how the calendula looks on the top of some of my soaps. I will try that next time.
