I was about to make soap today, but I have been nervous about it due to the weather. It has been pretty cold here in California.

I usually make my soaps in my zen garage.....but its VERY COLD in there now....

Is it still ok to make soap......does the weather matter?

I think it's ok, as long as you insulate your soap properly.
When it is really cold here, I turn my oven onto the lowest setting while i am preparing my lye and oils, and then while I am mixing I turn it off and make sure the door is shut. Then when I have poured my batter, I put my moulds inside a box, shoebox or whatever you use, then put the box in the pre-warmed oven. The warmth is enough for the soap to hold onto a bit of heat, I get a full gel every time.
