I have a batch of coconut wax - this - which says it is coconut oil, although officially classed as a wax. It has a melt point of 42c (107f) and is sold for use in CP soap (very reputable UK supplier).
The coconut oil I have been using in my soap, lotions and creams is this one - with a melting point of 28c (82f). The two appear and feel identical in their raw state.
What difference will it make if I use the wax in the same recipes (specifically for soap)? I notice that soapcalc makes very little differentiation between 92 and 76 degree coconut oil (only the iodine level changes), and I have been successfully using the stats for the 76f oil for my 82f oil.
Does the fact that it is officially a wax make any difference in practical terms?
