10% castor oil
30% coconut oil
40% olive oil
20% shea butter
would this make a good soap?
 
Hello! Not a bad one but I would back the CO down to 25-20% as it has a cleansing number of 20 at that amount so it might be drying on the skin.
 
I agree with dialing down the coconut oil down a little bit. With castor oil, i usually stay in the 5-7 range, anything more than that and it gets sort of sticky for me;however, it is really humid where i am, so maybe that's the culprit
 
To me, the recipe looks pretty nice 'as-is', and I say 'go for it'! :) Of course, I only say that because the fatty acid profile of your recipe is actually very similar to one of my main formulas. For what its worth, I superfat it at 7% and it's very nice, not drying to me at all.

Olive 70%
Coconut 20%
Shea 5%
Castor 5%
SF 8%
Longer to cure, but you will rewarded with a conditioning soap that will lather well.

10% castor oil
30% coconut oil
40% olive oil
20% shea butter
would this make a good soap?
