I use soy bean oil and canola oil interchangeably. Running every recipe through the lye calc, of course! IMO, they're pretty much identical in soap.
Ran it through the soap calc and my recipe looks like...yuck... nothing is within range at all. It's a wool wash bar.
4 oz CO
4oz OO
4oz canola oil (sub from Soybean oil)
4 oz Lanolin
2 oz lye 6 oz water
4 oz CO
4oz OO
4oz canola oil (sub from Soybean oil)

What if you used 4 more oz of OO?
