    Confession. I'm a cutter

Mine are imperfect when I cut as well. I just eye it and try to cut straight down. That's basically all I do before using it. I done even bevel the edges. Anyone else just leave them as is or do you think it is better the bevel? I'm not trying to sell mine yet, so I don't have any input from...

    storage of curing soap

I keep mine in a small closet in the house. There is a window in there and no air vent, so it can get warm during the summer. I have no other option. I have had trouble with fading EO scents. Pretty much the only soaps that keep their scent long term are any that have patchouli as part of the EO...

A good reason to keep soap diaries!

Evernote I use an app called Evernote on my iPad. You can keep different notebooks in it. For example I have a notebook for cold process soap recipes, one for bath salts, one for Chapstick recipes, etc... In my CP soap notebook I keep a note with a screen shot of each soapcalc recipe and I...

    My ULTRA ROOMY Drying Rack

This is exactly what I've been looking for. I can't keep making soap until I have a way to store it, and I don't have money to buy shelving. This is a perfect space saving solution. In fact, I've got two 2x4's out in the shop right now. I just need a couple more and I'm good to go on this project.

Hi Kendra, I'm from Louisiana too. I grew up there and lived there until Hurricane Katrina. I've been in Georgia ever since. Welcome to the forum.

    A hit & a miss...

I agree with others. It still looks cool. In fact, I looked at the pictures first before I read your text and didn't even realize that it was partially gelled until you said so.

    First attempt at color

Yes! That would be a fitting scent. Maybe have a dark chocolate color soap with a green stripe across the middle. That would be even better.

    First attempt at color

Thank you all for the kind compliments. I actually really like the way it smells. I did almost half and half with the two EOs. A tad more lemongrass than patchouli. The only EOs I currently had were lavender, patchouli, and a little tester of lemongrass so not many options there. I googled...

    First attempt at color

This is my 7th batch, so I thought I would try some color. Nothing crazy, just something simple. I used spirulina powder to get the green. Not sure if I added too much. I also CPOPed it. This time, CPOP worked great. I didn't get any bubbles on top like last time and I was able to unmold and cut...

What is everyone's favourite milk soap method?

I have only tried the milk-in-oil method. The soap came out fine although I was scared when I was making it that it got too hot. I soaped at 85. I stuck it in the freezer right after pouring.

    Strange Fragrance Oils

I would love rain as well. One of our favorite things to do is sit out on the porch during a summer shower sipping on coffee. Good times.

base not for lavender NOT patchouli

I personally like the smell of patchouli. Before I ever smelled it someone had described it to me as being a cheap sandalwood. I'm not sure how close of a description that is, though. I don't have any sandalwood to be able to compare. I doubt I ever will have any sandalwood EO being how...

    Roe

This was the first place I ever read info on ROE: http://candleandsoap.about.com/od/soapglossary/f/What-Is-Rosemary-Oleoresin-Extract.htm Basically, he recommends .02 to .05% - a very small amount.
