Help me make my first lotion

I've had several recent requests to make a lotion. I need a great recipe as I'm aiming to target dry/eczema type skin. I'm all ears for favorite tried and true recipes. I've been looking at Whole Elise's intensive oat lotion and Humblebee and Me's Rose Aloe body lotion. Suggestions welcome.

    Nurture's Peppermint EO

Does anyone know if Nurture's peppermint eo is first or second distill? I've smelled and prefer Brambleberry's first distill over any of the others I've tried so far, but I'd really like to find a closer supplier.

    Sequestering

From what I've read, sequestering is done to help with transparency and allow any particles to settle out and such. Is that all sequestering is for? Does sequestering help make the diluted soap become milder kind of like the way that an extra long cure does for cold process salt bars?

    EO behavior in liquid soap

I'm not sure where to post this. Is there a thread, website, book, ect that tells how different essential oils behave in liquid soapmaking? I mostly want to know which EOs will turn my soap cloudy since viscosity can be corrected.

    Scent recs for charcoal soap

I'm not very smell experienced yet so I need recs for scents to put in charcoal soap. Preferably masculine or unisex, but not cologne-like.

    BBW Mountain Frost

I found this at Lone Star Candles and am about to order it. Has anyone used it? What percent should I use it at? IFRA says safe up to a little over 9%. I want to use enough to get the scent to stick, not knock someone out! 😂 Also, does it accelerate, rice, discolor, ect?

    Dial gold fragrance dupe?

Is there a Dial gold scent dupe out there? I saw one possibility from Midwest Seasalt Company (not to be confused with Midwest fragrance Company). Are there any others?

    Maple sugar sand

Has anyone used this in soap? Google didn't give me much in the way of useful information. How much should I use? And would you use this in place of fine pumice, or in addition to pumice? I plan on using it in a mechanic soap for dh.

    Ciaglia salt bars?

Has anyone used the Ciaglia method in salt bars? I'm considering it and would love to hear others' experience beforehand.

    Color and fragrance help

I have so many questions! You'd think I were new at soaping, but I'm not. I've just always made unscented naturally colored soaps and am looking to expand my knowledge for friends and family who want pretty and pleasant smelling soap. I'm looking for ballpark figures as I know the usage rates...

    What's your favorite wood mold

...for lining with freezer paper? Anyone have experience withmolds from OzarkSoapMolds or RileyRelics on Etsy? They both look nice and very affordable. I want a 5lber if that makes a difference. I just don't know if I want/need/will use the bottom sliding feature.

    Essential Depot Lye

Anyone know the lye purity of their sodium hydroxide? I'm wondering if I should try ED brand (shipping would be faster) instead of BB which is what I've always bought before.

    What should I order?

I recently ordered a crafters choice silicone loaf mold on Amazon, but it's not here yet and I suspect it's been lost in transit. I'm looking on Amazon and notice another off brand loaf mold that is identical dimensions and only half the price. If my mold is declared lost and Amazon gives me the...

    I used the wrong salt!

I'm realizing hours after making ZNSB that I accidentally grabbed the wrong jar of salt from my pantry when making my faux sea water yesterday! I used my pickling/canning salt instead of the finely ground sea salt that was right next to it on the shelf. Good thing it's a small batch because I...

    Shea butter questions

I'd like to try shea butter in my CP soap but there are so many options! Do I want refined or unrefined and yellow or ivory, ect. I can get organic raw shea butter locally but it's very yellow. The brand is RA Cosmetics and the shop owner says sometimes it's yellow and other times it's lighter...

How do you cut your soap?

Seriously. I have always used individual cavity molds and now I have a loaf mold on the way! I am just a hobbyist, not selling. I make for my household and friends/family as gifts. I am trying to decide if I want to cut by hand with a knife or buy a wire cheesecutter that I can easily modify for...

    Don't laugh

I just ordered a regular size crafters choice loaf mold (1501). Does anyone know how many pounds of oils I should scale my soap recipes to for this? I usually use a 33% lye ratio if that helps. I know I can figure this out, but for the life of me I'm not remembering how.

    Shampoo bar questions

I made my first shampoo bar! DIY B&B pourable recipe, I made the variation for dry, brittle, or curly hair. Anyway, I finally used it tonight and now I'm confused. My hair felt like straw and literally could squeak after rinsing it out! Is this normal for shampoo bars? Forgive my ignorance, but...

Unknown ratio in my cetearyl alcohol

I had a LOT of rewards points to spend and decided to offset the cost of buying nearly every ingredient I need to make DIY B&B's hot pour shampoo bar recipe by buying some of the surfactants on Amazon. Anyway, I had no idea at the time I purchased that you can get different ratios of cetyl to...
