How to stop soap cracking with thick stamps?

So when I've used a stamp in the past, when there's thinner lines it works out fine, but if there's any part of the stamp that is bold or impresses in on a larger area, that can cause some issues. Especially with cracking the soap, or distorting the design. Does anyone know how to get really...

Unhappy Watermelon Lemonade // Tilted Diagonal Mould

I think I was just searching by the "No Vanillin" category, and it even says "Vanillin: No" on the webpage. I just assumed it was using a 0% Vanilla fragrance compound, however I guess I was just too hopeful. Benefit of hindsight, etc. That being said, I'm not sure I even got it off Eroma...

Unhappy Watermelon Lemonade // Tilted Diagonal Mould

Thank you so much for your kind words, I am pretty happy with the tilt, even if it's not perfectly met in the corners I think it adds a bit of style. I'm looking forward to doing this again with my more reliable FOs! I know it might be a bit much to ask, but could you tell me how best to do...

Unhappy Watermelon Lemonade // Tilted Diagonal Mould

The Mica, my recipe, equipment, and methods (sans tilting the mould) have all been successful in the past and met my expectations. I'll be contacting the company I bought the FO off for sure, as they may have additional information or realise they may need to change what information they have on...

Unhappy Watermelon Lemonade // Tilted Diagonal Mould

So I decided to try making a diagonal mould soap. Same mould as ever, just tilted 45 degrees, pouring in the first colour, then periodically tilting it upright as the 2nd colour is poured in. I'd like to say I'm happy with the results, but I'm not :\ The fragrance oil I got from Luxaroma...

3D Printed Stamp Creation + Mica Stamping

Well tbh I use a resin 3D Printer so it's a bit easier for me. I print the stamp (debossed logo and the plate it sits on) and the handle seperately. That way the part of the print requiring the highest fidelity to the file is the part least likely to run into issues because the design part of...

Am I using too little Titanium Dioxide? 1tsp:1lb Oils never seems to be bright enough.

Yes! Tbh I've never really even tried to gel my soap, it just seemed like an additional process that I never thought to look into, being that it seems harder to control a consistent standard, and I was happy enough with what I was producing. Maybe "brittle" isn't the best of words to use here...

Am I using too little Titanium Dioxide? 1tsp:1lb Oils never seems to be bright enough.

I can't even remember how much TD I put into the white part of this soap but it turned out SO bright and white, but I was/am REALLY happy with this. I think the only issue I had related to it was that by the time the surface was a thick enough trace to hold the weight of the frosting, it...

Am I using too little Titanium Dioxide? 1tsp:1lb Oils never seems to be bright enough.

I've tried a few different brands/sources of Titanium Dioxide. My soap recipe batter isn't particularly yellow, and the past few batches I've made have been made with fragrance oils that're vanilla free, and yet when I try to stick to the limits of 1tsp of TD per 1lb (~450g) of oil, it never...

    Still learning

I love the natural look cocoa powder can give soaps! Especially with the varying degrees of cocoa added to different portions of the soap batter. I also love the marbling you achieved with the top of the bars! Nice to have you join the hobby again 😄✨

3D Printed Stamp Creation + Mica Stamping

So after a LONG time not being able to make soap, I've finally settled into my new place and had the chance to break out the soap stuffs once more. I did this by funnily enough, recreating my last "Getting back into it" soap. It was fun to try and recreate something that I made prior. While the...

Purple Skies w/ Frosting🍦✨ First soap batch in a while, with interesting findings.

Thank you! Yes it is!! Here’s a pic of the batter all in the same pot before I poured it. I also have a tiktok here where I’m starting to upload my process if you’re keen to see that too I didn’t end up going with any scent actually :( I’ve just had awful luck with any soap with vanilla in it...

Purple Skies w/ Frosting🍦✨ First soap batch in a while, with interesting findings.

So I've always had trouble getting a super thin trace with my soaps because when I use the stick mixer, my mix will almost immediately go from oil + lye to medium trace. To test a theory of mine, I decided to see if I could reach thin trace by simply whisking for 5-10 minutes aaaand.... it...

What scents are you drawn to?

I really like aftershave themed scented ones. I've found one that has 0% vanilla content so doesn't interrupt my colours. It also tends to appeal to a lot of people for some reason, and it's just a nice neutral clean smell that gives a bit of a kick to the soap without being too overbearing...

Anybody know what's going on with WaxWicks? (maybe an Australian-centric question)

So I used to love using WaxWicks maybe 6-9 months ago, but then covid locksdowns occured and people really started getting into soapmaking and they were cleared out! I've been waiting about 6 months and still its like so much of their stock is consistently out. Does anybody know what's going on...

    Large unbreakable fragments in mica?

Yeah the listing said it was safe for all sorts of the usual applications (soap, candles, bathbombs, etc) however it's clear they're just bulking their product out with extra material. As for the tip on Nurture Soaps, thank you! I bought these colours a long while ago, so, truth be told I've...

    Large unbreakable fragments in mica?

So a little while ago I bought some really cheap (and low volume) packs of Mica off Ebay to kind of start off my collection, give me some options, etc. I've used these particular micas a few times and all of which I've noticed these large fragments (that I really can't use) making up maybe...

    "Getting Back Into It" soap

And here's the soap post-cutting! Extremely happy with the design!

    "Getting Back Into It" soap

So it's been a while since I've made soap, as it's been a while since I've been able TO make soap. Finishing my studies, going on placement, etc. So it's nice to have the time and means again to do something I love :) While my past attempts and designs had been growing increasingly ambitious, I...

Sweet iced tea soap (Hanger swirl with Cold process + Melt and pour)

I learned a lot with this soap. - I think it's just the ratio of hard + soft oils (50/50) that's resulting in a rather fast tracing, making it incredibly difficult to get the nice watery thin trace that I've been trying to obtain - I need to further grind up my mica as parts of it are far too...
