Cream Soap - Loss of fluffiness, OH NOES!

Whipping too much can deflate your soap and it will be runny. Will it work as a body wash? I've only done a few batches, i did add some liquid initially but left it very stiff to rot.

    questions about making wooden molds

At Menards (like Lowes) and on an end cap they have scrap wood different lengths. Sorted through them til I found the lengths I wanted they were cheap! The bottom piece is a slight bit more than an inch longer than the sides with the ends on the inside of the sides with pegs. I slide the soap...

    Disaster...*UPDATE*

I would also think about a new crock pot. When I first tried HP I used an old one that I had lying around and never threw out. I have a dear friend that all she soaps is HP and loves it! I hated every minute of the two batches I made, thinking on the first it was the learning curve. The soap was...

    Prices? buying oils?

GFS (Gordon Food Service) sells a gal. of pomace for $14.00 and EVOO $18.00 for 3 liters. Like you vjbakke, Sam's is an hour from me but GFS is 25 min. Sometimes they're in smaller cities.

    liquid soap preservative-when to add

That's what made sense to me but needed to check to be sure. I stuck it in the frig til I knew. Have you ever diluted with other things like aloe juice along with the water? THought about dividing some to try it. I know that will probably cloud it but that's ok with me, it's personal use. I'm...

    liquid soap preservative-when to add

Well, I made my first batch of liquid soap. All went well til the stick blender broke! I have diluted it just enough to barely dissolve the paste. Then I got thinking about the preservative and if I should have gone by the weight before dilution. Do I determine how much preservative after the...

    Cream Soap

Different recipes are different consistency. I am by no means an expert as I've only made 2 batches. Mine are very thick and then I use additives to thin. If you join the cream soap group here, http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/CreamSoap/ There is alot of info and they are very helpful...

    Homemade Laundry Soap

I use a very similar recipe for liquid laundry soap. I bought a fragrance from Hobby Lobby, in the area with the soap molds at my local store. I too use vinegar or baking soda in the softner area.

    Lard!

You could make a batch with both in it. Tallow, olive oil, lard make a great bar, very hard after the cure last a long time in the shower. Very nice small creamy bubbles. Maybe that's how they have in on the shelf non refrigerated?? I always wondered. I've never even looked at a lard label...

    Snowdrift Farms Formulary

I'm interested also in liquid soap, thanks for the recipe and info. Since i'm not sure making liquid is my cup of tea, I hate to spend the $$ for a ph meter. How necessary is it, can I get by without one for my first batch(es). i can see it'd be a great tool if i continue to make liquid soap...

trying to find lye locally is a major pain!

kaeliliy, It was with the drain cleaners, it's rooto brand but you don't realy notice that. In red letters it says...Household, under that it says 100% Lye in yellow, and in blue letters it says Drain Opener. I didn't have to ask. goodluck.

trying to find lye locally is a major pain!

I can buy at my little local hardware but if I'd buy more than 3 they copy my drivers license! They also raised the price almost double so I'll order online. I did see it a Menard's (like Lowes) for $3.67.

how did you decide on your first soap to make?

Tallow and lard, was my mom's recipe and my first. Now I add olive oil too and it is my favorite. Small lather but so creamy.
