    Rebatching soap in oil

I've got some soap to rebatch but just hate the process and was wondering about rebatching using hot oil. If say you were melting some oils to make some soap and threw in some pieces of already made soap would the soap melt down in the hot oil? And could you then add the lye and the amount...

Coconut oil is liquid at room temp

I just picked up an order and my coconut oil is liquid. They don't sell fractionated coconut oil and I'm wondering if something is wrong with it. It's a yellow colour too and my usual coconut oil is always a beautiful white colour. Should I take it back? Use it as fractionated coconut oil...

    When success isn't so sweet

I've been posting on another crafting forum, we all live in the same state, know each other well, chat about all kinds of stuff and meet up often. Some of us even created our own not for profit org to help crafters. I left earlier this year though to focus on my business and the whole...

Bramble Berry Strawberry - any problems?

I made a really nice batch of Strawberry soap yesterday and used the same amount of fragrance oil (2.5%) as all my other batches. So where is my strawberry scent? Why do I just smell soap? I've used it in bath bombs and it was divine but in CP soap...nothin! Anyone had this problem? Do I...

My soap doesn’t contain lye and nasty cheap palm oil

What am I supposed say to soap makers who tell me that at markets? :( Obviously there isn’t any lye left in his soap or he’d be the world’s worst soaper but what’s with making it sound like Palm oil is cheap and nasty stuff? He went on and on about how rubbish Palm oil is and tried to make...

Tweeking a recipe for more moisturizing

I've got a recipe I'm pretty happy with but I want it a bit more moisturizing. I'm trying to keep costs down on this one (this is my lower priced soap) so don't want to add any pricey ingrediants like Shea or Mango butter. SoapMaker gives it a 6.4 on the moisture scale. I'd like it a bit more if...

CP and salt bar in one.

Anyone tried it before? I gave it a go: A lovely CP soap with mango and macadamia oil on top and salt bar on the bottom. The salt grains are too large...I like them smaller, it looks smoother.

    The dreaded volcano

I just had my first volcano tonight. I was doing a very pretty Baby Rose soap I’d done before that had turned out perfect. Well tonight the batch was for 50 soaps and after putting the FO in it started to separate and then started to seize so I stuck it in the mold real quick. Then a few minutes...

    My first cp market

Yesterday I had my first go at selling my cp soaps. I almost didn't do the market because I was sure I wouldn't have enough soaps but at the last minute decided to do it anyway. I'd been doing DWCP fo a bit and had others fully cured so armed with 280+ soaps and 80+ bath bombs I gave it a go...

Added the lye but forgot half the oil :O

Can it be saved? I quickly measured out the remaining oil and poured it in and it traced just fine. But ooeerr did it damage my soap? Here's a pick.

My soap is not ready for a market. What to do?

I have a market in 26 days and not enough CP soap. What can I do? Can I still make more and have a 'use after this date' notice? Does this sort of thing happen often? I really don't think I'll be selling much soap anyway because my last market (m&p soaps only) was a bust but thought it'd be...
