    Favorite M&P bases

Hey guys, I've been making CP soap for about a year now and am having a blast. I'm also interested in trying some M&P soaps as well. My mom found some "soap stuff" at a garage sale this summer and got it for me, but it looks like the coloring is M&P coloring and not CP coloring. Oops! But...

    curing in individual molds

When using individual molds, how soon do you remove the soap? As soon as it's hard? When you get around to it? I am hoping to do a lot of soaping this weekend, but I don't have a lot of curing space. I am hoping to use some of my individual molds and keep the soap in it for a week, or so...

    Lye Fumes

What do you guys do to help ventilate the lye fumes? I've been making soap since April, but the weather has always been nice and the windows open. It's winter now, so opening the window is less of an option up here in the tundra- I mean NY. So what do you guys do to help lessen the lye...

My brother works in the medical profession and washes his hands a lot through out the day. As you can imagine, this has lead to very dry, cracking skin. I'm planning on make a pretty big order soon to restock my soap stuff, so I'm looking to make a lotion or lotion bar for him. I have never...

    Children's Soap

my sister asked me to make her some soap for her kids (4 & 2.5) for Christmas. She sent me a video of someone doing MP soap in individual molds, and then adding a little toy that the kids could play with when the soap was used up. Generally all of my soap making has been CP, has anyone tried...

    Oat

My husband has a can of Aveeno oatmeal shaving cream. He brought it to me today and asked if I could make a soap that smelled like it. He buys oat milk for drinking, and I am planning on using it in soap at some point, but I don't think the oat smell will survive, so I'm needing a good...

    Fall is for soaping!

I started my soap making adventures in April, but it quickly got to hot for soaping when you don't have AC. The cool weather has returned and with it, the soaping bug. If this keeps up, I'm going to need a bigger....everything. The back row is my no named fall soap, Nature's Garden's...

The Gunslinger, the Citrus, & the Triple Crown

First up is my "Gunslinger" soap I made for my husband. Scented with BB sandalwood, leather, and Beau Brummel. Next up is suppose to be a coconut & pink grapefruit that I made for a friend. You can't smell the coconut at all, so it's just a nice, citrusy smell Last is my Triple...

    unusual molds

How many of you see a random object at a thrift store, or flea market, maybe by your trash can and think "soap mold!" So far all of my molds have been actual molds, but this weekend is a big flea market and I'm excited to see what I can find there to soap with.

    using multiple fragrances

my husband wants a "gunslinger" scented soap. I picked up some leather, sandalwood, and Beau Brummel from BB. From what I've been reading, common wisdom is around .5oz ppo, so around 1oz of FO for a 2lb batch. When I check the BB website, for a medium scent, I get the following numbers - for...

    Bar size and cure time

Does anyone know if the size of the bar effects the cure time? It's my understanding that curing is to allow the water to evaporate off the soap and for the soap to get harder. So, do the smaller bars dry quicker?

    Not super pretty

but it's soap! My family likes to indulge us in our wild hairs, last year it was my husband and his bees. This year it's me and my soap. For my birthday, my MIL bought me a few silicone molds, a 1lb M&P base, some soap colorant, and other various soap making tools. Since I cannot find lye...
