    What happened?

You are right it was, 40% on both olive and coconut oils. And it did gel. Most of my soaps do, but I have never had them crack.

    What happened?

I experimented with oils on hand today. I made a yogurt based apple scented soap. I went very light on the color. The basic recipe was 30% olive, 30% coconut, 10% Rice Bran, 5% castor, & 5% coco butter. It mixed and poured fine. I didn't insulate since I wanted it to have a light color. It...

    Yogurt Soap

I haven't tried salt bars. What are their benefits? Do they dry skin out?

    Yogurt Soap

Bright Cherry High Ph Originally my daughter wanted cherry soap, but when the fragrance came in she decided she liked the apple scent better. She is 5 and hasn't liked the smell of any of my soaps yet. So far she is excited about using this one. Since this is my first time using lab...

    Yogurt Soap

I made some! It is so smooth and creamy. Of course I just took it out of the mold but still very nice. I thought I was going to add strawberry FO, but it was really Red Apple from Bramble Berry. I don't think I used enough though. It is a very light scent. Is there a calulator to tell you how...

ED Red mold in it's new custom made box!

Where did you get the ED mold? I can't find it anywhere. I must not know what I am looking for. Right now I am just using an old sewing machine drawer and wraping cardboard inserts with parchment papper. Your mold looks great!

Great! Thanks! The microwave distiller sounds intriguing!

    Face Soap

I recently tried my hand at making some facial soap for my husband. We are used to using Clinique, but it is expensive and if I can find a recipe that works as well, why not make it myself? The recipe I tried was glycerine, honey, and homemade castile soap. The problem I have with it is that...

    Best way to use herbs?

I have a bunch of mint, basil, and sage from the garden. Is there a good way to use it in CP soap?

    Strawberry Recipe

Moody, you just made my day! I am not sure I would have thought of that! I will probably try a small batch first just to see and if I don't like it I will get some M&P. THANK YOU!

    First attempt at fragrance

Thank you all for your comments and complements. I noticed it doesn't smell as strong this morning. That or I am just getting used to it! :-) It may not have any smell at all once itis cured, but that is probably better than the way it smelled right after pouring it in the mold.

    Strawberry Recipe

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I already bought the Strawberry Fragrance from Brambleberry. The plan was to use it with greek yogurt and color with Labcolors. If the FO discolors will that mess up the labcolor? Or will the labcolor hide any discoloring caused by the FO? Heck, the...

    First attempt at fragrance

It was an EO and I added just a tad lavender. The recipe called for 2 oz for the 3 lb batch. I am not worried about the color, just the smell.

    Strawberry Recipe

I really would like to do a strawberry yogurt soap for my daughter but just read some not so encouraging reviews on strawberry fragrance. Anyone have any ideas?

    First attempt at fragrance

I made a batch of Double Butter soap yesterday. It was my first attempt at adding fragrance. My 5year old doesn't like the smell of the soaps I have made so far. This was only my 4th batch. I ordered a sampler pack of fragrance from BB. The only one she liked was orange. I am not sure it...

    Hello from Kentucky!

Thanks all! Kazmi, I ground up walnuts finely and added them at trace. Looks great. Can't wait to see how it is after it cures!

    Hello from Kentucky!

:-P I am new to soaping. I have made one batch of castille soap and one patch of bastille. They are both still curing but I am already planning a honey walnut batch. Excited about trying new oils out. I have to be careful about what I use though as I tend to have sensitive skin. I am...
