Feb. 14 will be here too soon!

Here is what I did one year and it was a big hit: I made little heart shaped soaps (when I was still doing M&P - which I will NEVER do again but you could still do it w/ CP) and I put them in a red, foam heart shaped box that I got at Michaels. I did the soaps in chocolate and vanilla scents...

    Does this drive you nuts?

I consider anyone on this forum - reading and sharing as "doing their research" and so I think it is perfectly fine to share and receive info on this forum. However, I recently had a girl come up to my booth at a craft fair and say "Oh, I have always wanted to make this stuff and start my...

    soap scraps to liquid soap?

BUMMER!!! I had just added that to my to-do list.

Why the hostility from cold and hot process soapers? A brief encounter

I am not weighing in... just sharing a story to point out the ignorance of people: I had a guy go into one of the stores where my soap is sold and he was examining them all and asking questions. The store owner explained that I make my soap with either EO's or FO's and some are CP and some...

    Proud Momma moment

Yes, it felt wonderful to know she listens to me. It was not seizing (thank god) but glad that she is learning the terminology!

    Proud Momma moment

I haven't posted in a LONG time because I have been trying to balance my new baby with full time work and suddenly getting lots of business. But I HAD to post tonight because I had a "proud" moment. So... .I was making my very first batch with my new mold (double the size batch I am used too)...

First Salt Soap - Not loving!

I tried them again and am very pleased this time with the outcome. I ended up making them Hot Process and I did 100% CO w/ 20% superfat (Shea, Castor & Olive) at trace. Big difference.

Soap Forming a Shiny Thin Layer

Did you have plastic wrap on top of it? If I cover mine w/ plastic wrap and it touches it in any spot.... I get that shiny, plasticky look.

First Salt Soap - Not loving!

I made my first "successful" batch a couple months ago and I don't love them either. My recipe was very close to yours. I used 75% Coconut & 25% Olive Oil. I used 100% Himalayan Salt. I just didn't think it sudsed very good and it was scratchy. LOL... and when I washed my face with it (not...

    Spring ChEEr!

Just noticed you are from Western Mass! I am your neighbor. I live in CT, right on the Ma. border... just outside of Springfield :) YES... I am very, very jealous of those beautiful flowers. But... it is March 1st so spring will be here soon. I definetly suffer from SAD.

    Darn!

Ok... I will try that! That is what hubby told me this morning too. Hmm... I better try this while the stores are still open so I don't get stuck with another soapless evening.

Why do some sites and books say you MUST use lye?

ASSUMED by whom? Soapmakers? Yes. Customers? NEVER ASSUME. I did not know how soap was made before I started researching how to make soap. I don't know the answer as to whether it needs to be on the label or not... but I just do it. Why wouldn't you just put it on there to be safe...

    lite coconut milk

I like it! Very pretty :) I LOVE using Coconut Milk. I use one that has water and guar gum in it and I haven't had any problems. I freeze it and add my lye to it. Lately I have been doing 100% coconut milk. The lye/milk mixture goes solid a few minutes after adding the lye but I give it...

Question to those that sell CP in shops

Yes... it is absolutely an individual decision. I was just pointing out why I don't think the "handling" issue should hinder someone's decision if they were heading in the direction of unwrapped or partially unwrapped. There are lots of new soapers on this forum and I didn't want them to have...

    Darn!

hahaha... I like the way you think: 2 blenders "just in case". Thats excellent.
