Has anyone ever used vanilla bean in their cp soap. I have a few pounds of beans and would like to use them.

I have not done this personally, but have read many woeful tales of the scent not surviving saponification. Probably better to use it for cooking.

I have bought vanillin crystals and will be trying them soon. I've tried a dozen different vanilla fragrance oils and have yet to find one that I really love.

You could also powder your vanilla beans and use them as a nice brown colorant! I've used vanilla bean powder but only for looks and feel vs. scent.

Thanks for your responses. I guess I'll just continue making vanilla extract with them. They just smell so good that I thought it was worth asking the question. Again thanks.

I have used them for little flecks of color, but not for the scent, it won't work. they are expensive anyway so now I just use for baking :D
