Are colored oxides natural? I had another soaper tell me that oxides are "earth oxides" and so are considered natural. I would love for this to be true but want to verify it first.

As I understand it, the oxides that we use in soapmaking are not really natural. There are natural oxides, but they contain lots of dangerous stuff like lead, arsenic and mercury. So now oxides are made in a lab identical to the natural ones.

No, they are not natural.

What really get's me is when people call mica's natural...even ones colored with dyes (lakes or fd&c colors). I've seen so many makeup people say their products are 100% natural but they use mica's colored with D&C Red 7.

Go to the colorants section on the Brambleberry website. There is a great explanation about each kind, what they are made of, how "natural" they are and pros and cons for both M&P and CP soap.
