I just made a batch of salt bars in individual molds and I threw them outside to prevent gel because I am pretty sure I soaped too hot and I know my salt for some reason has dextrose in it so that will make it heat up more.

However, I read somewhere you have to gel salt bars? Is this true?

I normally always gel my salt bars except for the batches in which I use cream. I agree with Bubbly Buddha - it is hard to prevent them from gelling.

It is quite possible I got a partial gel. I never checked the temps of the coconut oil but it seemed pretty hot. I did throw the mold outside for about an hour (it was -5 or so) but I won't know for a few weeks when I go to try one and cut it open

My last one showed gel. :D
