We had our cow butchered and I rendered the suet same day, so I have some super fresh tallow I would love to make into a great batch of soap. I have nearly 15 lbs of it right now and only make 3 lb batches at the largest.

I know I am going to try a 100% tallow bar,

other oils and butters I have on hand
avacado oil and butter
shea butter
coconut oil
coco butter
sunflower oil
lard
GV shortening
grapeseed
Olive

Here are a couple of combos:

20% tallow
28% coconut
15% shea
37% olive

or

20% tallow
25% coconut
20% lard
35% olive

Tallow is 1 ingredient that i have never try (yet).. Tried my local grocery store and they didn't have it. Might have to try the wet market some day.

What makes tallow special? Is it really conditioning like lard?

Tallow makes a hard, long-lasting bar with creamy bubbles; and it has some conditioning properties. I have never made a 100% tallow bar, I really prefer lard to tallow. I also add coconut oil and Castor oil to the recipe when using tallow or lard.
