Senate Bill S.1014, the Personal Care Products Safety Act

Why is shaving soap considered a cosmetic? Can you point me to a reference?

My first shaving soap is a success!

I've purchased the 4oz flat tin here and they are a small sized container that would be good for shaving but the larger flat container would work really well for loading soap on and aren't to expensive. http://www.specialtybottle.com/tincontainersmi.aspx

    Disposal Q

If you leave the caps off for a while all of the volatiles will evaporate. Our city says to leave paint cans open until they dry and then you can dispose of them normally (for the ones that are empty). If you have a full bottle that you want to dispose of then probably need to go to a hazardous...

A small rant with a question attached. :)

hmmm.... So because it's not what they do, it's not a "real" thing? Keep doing your thing and ignore the people who are so narrow minded. InNae

    CP Soap Won't Fully Trace

I agree that your pH measurement it probably wrong. Take a pH measurement of either distilled or Deionized water and it should be 7. Then dissolve your soap in that and measure it. Without having searched the forums here, I'm pretty sure there are some suggestions as to how to do it. Just...

    Curing racks

If you already have the stackable dish racks then you might want to look into something like a rack where you could slide them out. I think (It's been many years since I worked in the food service) that they used to have racks for glasses that you could slide out individual racks. Not sure if...

Why do they need such a long cure time? Not doubting, just trying to understand it. InNae

    Cure time for HP Castile

OK... So it's not a true castile. It's 90 oo/10 co. I know that for a CP castile it should cure for a long time >6 months. What are peoples thought on a Bastile that's been HP? InNae

urgent help needed - weight of melted oils vs solid

I wasn't sure if they were all mixed. I guess I would play with soapcalc and figure out what the highest amount of lye needed and the lowest amount needed and go somewhere in between... Oh and hope for the best. Of course you know you will end up liking this soap the best because you will never...

urgent help needed - weight of melted oils vs solid

Physics 101 Matter can neither be created nor destroyed. You've gained about 50% on your weights. So either call a physicist or reweigh everything. My first choice would be to reweigh everything, but if you believe in aliens and sasquatch then call a physicist. InNae

What other hobbies and homemade goodies do you make?

I'm in Tae Kwon Do, but I don't think I'll find to many people who want a kick in the head so I don't think that qualifies. Other than that, my hobby is my children. InNae
