Hey, I made my first soap about a week ago, castille. It looks ok and doesn't smell bad or anything but it still hasn't hardened. I took the lid off the primary mold it's in to let it breathe and harden for a couple of days. But I did that like 2 or 3 days ago and it's still pretty soft on top.

Did I do something wrong? How long does it usually take to harden?

castile soap is different than other soap. It needs a few months to cure to be as good as they can. It is worth the wait. Other soaps only need about 4 weeks.

is it possible I can grate it for making hand milled soap any earlier? How hard should it be for milling? It should still be a bit soft no?
