Hi Everyone

I was lucky enough to be given a heap of fresh goats milk so I am in the process of experimenting with different recipes etc. I read that the fat in the milk can contribute to the superfat...is this correct? I have been using a 7% superfat in all my batches, is this ok or do I need to take into account the fat in the milk?

Many thanks in advance!

Goats milk is pretty low in fat so I won't worry about accounting for it, I never do.

The average fat content is very roughly the same as cow's milk, but it varies depending on the goat's breeding, type and amount of feed, season of the year, etc. Full fat (whole) milk, if used as 100% of your water, adds about 1% to your superfat if you don't include this fat in your lye calculation.
