I've been looking into containers I can use to safely store "larger" batches, 1-2 gallons but prefer 2 gallons, that are air tight. I actually found some at Home Depot with lids sold separately. Not planning to buy just yet because I need to go to the store and find out if they are FDA approved for food storage.

They -do- have "5 Gallon Food Storage Containers" that are FDA approved, air tight etc, but nothing smaller in size like 1-2 gallons and all have to be ordered online, which I don't mind at all. Just wish they came in smaller sizes too.

Any suggestions? Comments? Warnings?

Found my answer after I realized while out picking up hubby from work that I hadn't even Googled this yet. HDPE #2 is fine but stick to uncolored in case the dye used to color the container isn't food/water safe. I found great buckets, lids sold separately, that were only 2 gallon sized. Perfect for what I wanted them for.
