I bought 2 pounds of Manteca lard the other day hoping to try a batch of lavender soap with it. I didn't look at the box until I got home.

The lard has BHA, propyl gallate and citric acid added to protect the flavor.
Can I use this? I am afraid of blowing up the kitchen, although I do see that citric acid is natural and sometimes used to correct ph balance.

I was hoping to make soap this afternoon, any one know if it's ok?!!!!
Thanks!

I always use store bought lard and it has those same ingredients...never had any issues. I know many of us use store bought lard as well. It will be fine, nothing will blow up, but it will make GREAT soap. :D

Thank you xraygirl!!! :D

Ok, time to get to making my soap, it's been almost 5 weeks since I made any!

BTW- are you either a radiologist, or an x-ray tech? My dad was a radiologist for many years!
