I was born In LA, so I generally say *hey guys* or *you guys* but get flack from the general term guys on female dominated soap foums so I try now to say gals (which sounds more like a term my 84 year old grandmother should be useing). It would come back & bite me....

(I am in TX now but *ya'll* does not flow from my mouth very ofetn, when I do it is in jest  .)

Yup, Ed, Dan, I think PhillipJ & Paul, were taking over the soap forums with all this testerone! LOL  LOL  As a lonely male soaper on a lot of forms I used to visit, I am so glad to have male soapers here at our "home!" 8) 8)

On the Crayons. :? I've never used them, but if I were not selling and just starting for personal use, I have no problems! :) If Kathy says OK, it has to be OK, IMHO! :D

Paul....:)

Yes! Man Power! Soon we will only talk about soap on a rope, what soap cleans axle grease best, and we will put all of our liquid products in big glass bottles shaped like old cars.

(hope someone gets my obscure Avon colgne bottles joke.) LOL Those things were considered home decor at my aunts house.

I just bought some concentrated chlorophyll (6% in distilled water) at the health food store to try in a batch this weekend. This natural green colorant was a suggestion in 'The Soapmaker's Companion'. I'll let you know how it works out, though I'm still trying to figure out how much to use, and just when in the process.

Please post some pictures and let me know how it works out. I went to the health food store yesterday and found chlorophyll.

CPSoaper mentioned spirulina for the green color, and a specialist in chinese herbal medicine recommended spirulina for my eczema- internally, but it could possibly help externally as well, or at the very least, be a soothing additive. (Something I am always in search of.)

I saw a show on Spirulina- but it was only internally too. Something that good has to work on skin! I saw it at Whole Foods and wanted to try in a lotion- I'll let you know how it works out!

yes, please let us know how the spirulina works out! I had a friend who used nori, the seaweed for sushi, in soap as a colorant. it was pretty- she added it chopped up, but as i remember it ended up leaving the soap smelling a bit fishy, so i don't think i'd try that one. :O

Natural Green Color

Back to PinkNorth's problem with French Green Clay in the original post here: I just ordered some French Green Clay from OT yesterday and i want to make a soft green (but not yellowish green or kahki green) cucumber scented cp soap for myself. If anyone has used this particular clay successfully for coloring the soap....I want it reasonably pale and not intense...please let me know what you did and how you did it!!
thanks, Patricia

Here's what my soap looks like with the green clay. I find it very pale. I was looking for something with just a touch more vibrance.

Earthy- looks nice though! I'm going to try Spirulina later tonight- maybe it will be a more vibrant green- seaweed color but not as dark?

Thanks! I will use that colour for another scent. I am going to try chlorophyl sometime this week. I've got some other projects on the go right now, that I just have to get done.

Here is a pic of my cubumber soap. I add liquid chlorophyll as part of my water to my lye solution. this is only 1 oz of chlorophyll for 4.6 pounds of soap.

Hey if you wanted a totally natural green, I could send you some of the split pea soup my kids won't eat! Just tryin to help

Nope I got an ugly bar but that is how I'm going to sell it and name it! :)
The benefits on my acne have been phenomenal from French Green Clay- I should have taken before and after pics- in just a few days my skin is a million times better! It's amazing stuff- I put it in a tan color GM rebatch you can imagine how ugly it is but the way it makes my face feel outweighs that...

On to Spirulina---
I added the powder to clear mp soap- to check out the color- beautiful vibrant forest green- a little goes a long way..
I tried with white MP base and it was a softer pastel green- reminded me of cucumber colored soap.
I have a cp batch curin- it's shaping up to be pastel as well- I should have added more maybe- I have to let you know later on that one- after a few curing days- to see what the color does.
As soon as I figure out pics I'll throw them up here!
Hope I helped a bit..
I heard Acai is good to color soap ( pink or raspberry color) and a great antioxidant has anyone tried it? I know it's super expensive but Walgreens sells capsules that are 100% acai pretty cheap!Hmmm?
