I'm looking for a great massage bar recipe. I've seen the 1/3 ratio of butter, oil, wax but have also seen 23% wax, 23% oil, 56% butter. I'm just trying to get ahold of a really great massage bar recipe! Also, what fragrance do you like to infuse them with?

Thanks everyone!

If you want to use it mainly for massages, I'd go with higher percents of oils or butters that melt at low temps. Oils like Sweet Almond Oil, Meadowfoam, Apricot Kernel Oil, Jojoba or butters like Mango, Avocado & Cocoa make good moisturizing butters.
As for what fragrance, that kind of matters on what butters/oils you use. Some of them have an odor that you would need to work with.

Here's a couple links for more info:

I've never used a massage bar sold by a store, but the ones I made from this recipe turned out wonderfully:

http://www.pinemeadows.net/recipes.php/

Massage Melts
1 oz wt. cosmetic grade beeswax
3 oz wt deodorized cocoa butter
2 oz wt. kokum butter
1.5 oz wt. avocado butter
1.5 oz wt. kukui seed oil
.1 oz wt. natural vitamin E
.3 - .5 oz wt. favorite fragrance or essential oi.
Recipe yields approx. 10 oz wt
Heat your solids (beeswax & butters)until they are liquid. Add in the rest of your ingredients and stir thoroughly. Pour mixture into the containers or molds of your choice (try the conversations candy heart molds), then wait for them to solidify before using. Recipe variations: you can increase the amount of beeswax and get a lotion bar consistency instead of the massage melt- that will melt with the warmth of your touch.
I substituted sweet almond oil for the kukui seed oil, and it still turned out nicely. And as far as fragrance, I used "Sands of Morocco" from Wholesale Supplies Plus. It's a wonderfully relaxing fragrance that works for both sexes.

Just my two cents. =)
