I want to make a new face soap recipe which will be 2 lbs total for oils.

here is the recipe:

OO- 75%
Castor- 5%
CO 76 deg- 20%
.7 oz lavender
.8 oz tea tree

I'm wondering if my recipe has too much tea tree (the tea tree i have seems very strong!)

suggestions?

thank you

also, do you think the rest of the recipe looks okay for a face soap?

What's your superfat %? I just wonder because of the 20% CO. I guess the high OO would cancel out a lot of the drying effect of the CO though.

thanks for the reply!

I have the superfat at 6%

do you think that's okay?

I can't speak to how well your soap will be as a face soap, just that OO is considered to be very gentle. My only suggestion would be to take a water discount if you can because a soap so high in OO will take forever to cure. Trust me. Forever. Possibly forever and a day.

The amount of tea tree you need will depend on the grade. If you picked it up in the vitamin section at walmart or in any other pharmacy, its pharmaceutical grade tea tree, colorless, and very strong. A little goes a long way. the tea tree supplied by Essential Oil suppliers is not pharmaceutical grade and not as potent... I have seen that it will have a dark color to it too.
