I have been busy lampworking (making glass beads) for the past 8 years or so. It's great fun...but I needed a break.

I fell in love with handmade soaps a few years ago and decided this would be a good time to try my hand at creating some of my own. If I get hooked...guess what everyone will be getting for xmas :)

I am totally new to soap making. I made my first small batch of soap yesterday. I think it turned out fine...except it seems a bit oily to the touch.

I've been searching for info to see if I can find out if that's a problem.

Wish me luck. I'm sure I will be back here searching for help.

if you used a large percentage of olive oil that might be it. give it a few days and see. olive oil is slow.

Welcome from Australia Peggi! I adore lampwork glass....I have a wonderful collection from some US artisans I bought over time on ebay - just perfect miniature works of art. I am sure you will find this forum very helpful and friendly, and we love pics of soap so feel free to post any and all you end up taking

BTW - I am sure we will love pics of your beads too..... :D

Tanya :)
