I have a fabulous heavy duty HDPE plastic bowl with handle and spout I got from a dollar store a couple years ago. I make 5-lb batches in it. It won't last forever, though, and I've looked and looked without any luck for a replacement. I also use HDPE paint buckets from the hardware store. Stainless is great, but I microwave everything unless it's HP.
