I did a batch of soap today, using the room temp / heat transfer method which I've done a few times before with no problems. However, this time when I added the lye water to the grated mango butter, it just didn't seem to want to melt. I stirred and stirred and used the stick blender and then it reached trace so I had to pour but there was still small unmixed lumps of mango butter throughout the mix, so I'm not sure it will be useable. But I'm confused as to why that happened? It is very cold at the moment, so I'm thinking maybe the lye cooled too quickly and maybe the butter was too hard / cold. I think I'm going to have to melt the butters in future before adding the lye but was just wondering if anyone had had this problem? Thanks :)

In the summer, when I keep my house in the 70's, thermal transfer is a dream. In the winter, when it is 65°, I have to melt my hard oils.
