What's your favourite oil in soap making? Why?

Most of my recipes have coconut oil, olive, and palm. I also use castor. In my shampoo bars I use almond oil and cherry kernel oil (a more experienced friend told me it is a cheaper alternative to jajoba oil).

    Essential Oil Blend for Men?

I am working on an essential oil blend for a new soap. I know I want to start out with Cedarwood, as I want a woody smell. I think I may use tea tree. So far I have 6 drops of CW to 1 drop of tea tree. Should I add a touch of lavender or patchouli? something else?

I live in Alabama and our house is kept a little warmer than most, I suppose. I melted mine once and it stays liquified for weeks. I just shake it up before I measure each time I soap.

    Mechanics / Dirty Worker Soap

First off, I am not asking for anyone's recipe, just a little guidance. I am working on an exfoliating soap good for mechanics/gardeners/artists/etc. I know I want to use activated charcoal or bamboo charcoal (is there a difference). I also want to use pumice and coffee grounds. I have found...

    Using Tallow

I am going to contact our local meat store to see if they will give/sell me some. Do you all not have a meat store in your area?

What do you use to cut your CP soaps?

I found a bread cutter at the thrift store. It is basically a cutting board with sides that have slits (like a mitre). I use a large knife that is used for chopping vegetables.

    Using Tallow

I am contemplating using tallow instead of palm oil. I have read about getting the fat locally and preparing it myself. I am wondering, is the fat that comes off of ground beef when you cook it considered tallow? Could that be used in soap?

    Special Dog Soap

We had a Boston Terrier that had to eat vegetarian dog food. Imagine that. If he ate meat, his ears would itch and turn red inside.

    Dish Soap Recipe?

Anyone ever made soap specifically for dishes? I've used my CP soap with my dishes, but it seemed too oily/moisturizing. I'm new to CP soap, so any suggestions would be appreciated. What type of oils? Should I have a low superfat? I typically use olive, coconut and palm. I do have castor and...

    My New Soap Stamp!

Here's a tutorial on how to make your own. I tried it once. I ended up with two air bubbles. I didn't feel like doing it again. http://duhbe.com/blog/2011/04/diy-custom-soap-stamp/

    Room Temperature Soaping

A seasoned soaper told me she combines her lye solution and oils once they are at room temperature and her soaps do not gel. She leaves them out, uncovered, not in the freezer. I made a soap with Olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil and cherry kernel oil at an 8% superfat (for a shampoo bar). The...
