Entering the murky world of EU regulations

I have received an example of a PIF which also contains GMP. I still find it quite hard to understand how that translates into the way you should set up your soaping kitchen in order to comply to the rules. ISO 22716 is al about GMP, but I still have to read it, it's loooong lol. I wish there...

Entering the murky world of EU regulations

That really is a LOT of money Gentleman! The people from the UK I mentioned earlier are really nice and helpful. They don't know all the rules that would apply in The Netherlands however, so I'm going to try and gather as much info as I can and then probably let them assess my recipes. I...

Entering the murky world of EU regulations

I've had contact with cosmeticsafetyassessment.com in the UK to see if they can help me out. They can definitely do the assessments and told me what my other steps would be. I would like to share this with you, so here's a part of the email they sent me: "As well as the assessment, you will...

Entering the murky world of EU regulations

I don't understand why there are different rules for the same EU law in different countries. So if you live in the UK you can make soap in your own kitchen and the law considers it safe and if you are in Germany like you are, it's not? MG that's just nuts!

Entering the murky world of EU regulations

Hi everybody, I just posted a similar question on another part of this forum but Gentleman was so kind to direct me this way  Will be reading this topic and hope I can contribute to the info giving part, although I'm just starting to read into this myself. Thanks so far :D

    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

No I do not rub the bar on my head, I just create a lather in my hand and rub that into my scalp and hair. It's just this one spot that gets greasy. My hair feels a lot thicker too and seems to have more curls than when I use my liquid (all natural) shampoo.

    EU regulations - help needed!

Thanks both for your reply! Why not share any information if you can help another soaper? I would love to share any info I have, after all we are 1 big soaping family! We learn from eachother share our successes and failures. But maybe that's just my nature ;-) I live in the Netherlands and...

    EU regulations - help needed!

Hi everyone, How is this new soaping year starting out for you? I've been making soap for about a year now and at this point I'm giving everything to friends and family. I would love to go to some fairs and markets, but in the EU you cannot sell anything without having your soap recipes...

    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

I've made a very similar shampoo bar but it does not work for me :( My hair overall feels clean but there is this one patch at the back of my head that is very sticky feeling, like it is very greasy. I detoxed my hair already (been having really greasy hair for week since not using commercial...

    EO instead of herbal infusion?

Hello everyone, Since I'm fairly new to soapmaking this might be a 'stupid' question ;) I'm going to make my very first shampoo bar and was wondering if I could add EO instead of the herbal infusion mentioned in some recipes. Do I loose to many beneficial qualities if I don't incorporate it...

    Soap still soft?

It's been a while and just wanted to say that my soap finally hardened! It was a ventilation problem as far as I can tell, because when I started ventilating the cupboard more often the soap got notably harder

    Soap still soft?

Thanks for all your advise! I will wait a little longer and see if it will get rock solid ;-) The end pieces are hard, but they are thin slices. I keep my soap in a cupboard that isn't ventilated 24/7 so that may be part of the problem as well.

    Soap still soft?

I sure hope not! It doesn't zap me and it makes my hands really soft. It looks gorgeous and smell delicious, but it's still somewhat soft. Couldn't it just be the type of soap? I'm a newbie so maybe that's a stupid comment, but I have noticed that they sell pretty soft soaps at Lush as well.

    Soap still soft?

I used 31% water and super fatted at 5%. Put it through soapcalc and it looked fine. Not the hardest soap in the world, but a nice conditioning soap.

    Soap still soft?

Hi everyone, 6 weeks ago I made a batch of soap with 40% OO, 20% CO, 10% castor oil, 10% cocoa butter, 15% shea butter and 5% jojoba oil. I scented it with lavender EO. After six weeks of curing the soap still feels somewhat like chewy fudge when pressed. Is this the way it's going to stay or...

    newbie with more questions

I've made a batch once with 90% OO in a 12 cavity mold and after unmolding it created a lot of ash. Didn't use alcohol though, does that really help? Only made a couple of batches myself and insulated one of them. This one formed a little ash on the sides after unmolding. Looks like my soaps are...

    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

Ordered all the missing ingredients last night and now waiting for delivery! I'm not going to use the soybean oil, but put a 10% jojoba oil instead. Also read about clay absorbing product build up and because my husband uses gels and what not in his hair I thought I'll give it a try. Going to...

    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

Was thinking about making a shampoo bar but till now I hesitated because of all the people who had no luck creating a good bar. As a beginner in soaping I thought it was probably to early for me to make an attempt at a shampoo bar. But now I have been given hope, thanks Genny!
