    Fresh ingredients in CP soap

I didn't "add" the food to the soap so to speak, I used it as the water portion of the soap. Pumpkin and blueberries both add wonderful properties to the lather because of the sugars. I didn't cook the blueberries though I just pureed them. Blueberries will make your soap turn brown though...

Some tutorials to get you started...

I just went to look at the tutorials and the domain name has expired. Are the tutorials available somewhere else?

    Olive Oil Soap....

Yes lots of people love straight Lavender which is not at all creative for us making the soap, although I must admit sometimes I love making those plain batches that take no thinking. lol

    Fresh ingredients in CP soap

I love making my own pumpkin puree, I just use the stick blender to mash it all up after it's cooked as it's going in the soap anyway :) And I have also used cucumber and blueberries too. It's so much fun to experiment with food. If the food you are using has a high sugar content just make...

    Red Wine Soap Weirdness

The outside of the soap may not have gelled but the inside certainly has... I have had this happen to me too. The colour will darken slightly as it cures but you will still be left with the different shades. :)

    Lotion/.creams jars and bottles help

Yep any lotion that contains water will need a preservative... there are natural ones out that there that are good. I don't put my lotions into jars as I don't like to keep sticking my fingers in it as I know that adds bacteria into the lotion whether it is preserved or not so I use tubes or...

    Grainy lip balm...

This is one of the reasons I stopped using coconut oil and shea butter in lip balms. I would rather they bit a little harder with just the beeswax and oil than feel like I have been eating toast after putting on lip balm.... it's what it feels like to me when a lip balm goes grainy.

    Anti Foaming agent in oil

Thank you Hazel, I am hoping someone may have an answer as I had asked my supplier before but they had no idea you even made soap from oils. Not sure what they thought I did with all the oil I bought. lol

My hubby is making me a wooden mold for CP soap

Hubby made me a bunch too and I even have a couple of stainless steel ones I use in the oven but none of them come apart and I have never had an issue as all you have to do is line the mold and the soap slides out easy. :)

    volcano! and lye burns

Glad everything turned out ok! I bought some washing up gloves from a discount store, they have fancy ends which means they go up your arm a little further as you always get a splash of raw soap where ever the glove isn't and haven't had an issue since.

    Christmas

I'm proud to say I am actually prepared and have actually started on Christmas for this year... just waiting on my latest order of supplies to arrive and I should actually be all done by the end of October... this is so unlike me! :D

    How to tell

When soap gels it looks kind of see through instead of being opaque... if its in the oven it will definitely gel though as the heat helps accelerate the process.

    98% lye for soap making

Sodium Hydroxide or lye available in Australia is only 98 or 99% pure... That's as pure as it gets and I am yet to find any here that is 100% The stuff that contains metal here clearly states it and isn't allowed to be called Caustic Soda (what lye is called here). Our 98% works perfectly...

    Anti Foaming agent in oil

Recently I noticed a lot of vegetable oil in the supermarket contain anti foaming agents. Now I understand why they are there for cooking but I was wondering if it had any effect to the lather if you used in making soap... Has anyone used an oil with the agent in it that could enlighten me or...

    Be Careful

I did a bit of research about this and it seems that this will only happen if liquid is added to the mixture and than sealed... but something to think about none the less.

    Juice ????

I'm not sure about the pineapple juice leaving any fragrance in the soap or not but I can tell you that the coconut milk doesn't smell like coconut milk in the finished soap so I don't think you will get the Pina Colada scent you are after without adding fragrance.

Do you have to have your soaps 4 surfaces smooth

I think how a bar looks is more personal preference. I have some perfect bars, some with fancy tops and others that are just 100% rustic looking, it depends on the fragrance I am using and what I want the outcome to be... plus it's always nice to change things around a bit. :)
