Haha it should but if there's already soap in the crockpot I'd melt in a double boiler first then pour it in with the lye mixture

    HELP with glycerin soap!!!

Yea, just add it as normal and mix. Melt the stearic in the microwave first, though. If you don't add the stearic your soap will be lye heavy. Apparently once you get the technique down you can "easily" tweak your batch to get a good final product. I'm not that good yet, though. lol

    HELP with glycerin soap!!!

Sounds like you might be using too much solvent if the soap never set. Glycerin soap is a major pain in the you know what, at least for me. You have to find a sweet spot of sorts with your solvents. Too little and you don't get a clear soap. Too much and it doesn't set or is mushy. It's one of...

Making transparent soap - won't dissolve!

Hi guys, I've read through a lot of the transparent soap threads and walk throughs. I've tried a couple of batches, and can't seem to get my soap to go through the "dissolve" phase, after you add the alcohol and glycerin. I used a crockpot last night, and it literally took 10 hours and...

    Best place to buy oils?

For base oils I like Soaper's Choice. Even with their shipping I haven't found a better price for coconut, palm, castor or cocoa butter. For Olive and Virgin Coconut (only use VCO in lip balms, etc, I use reg 76 degree for soap) the prices at CostCo are pretty hard to beat. For EO's, you...

    cpop mistake...

I'd say wait until tomorrow, unmold it when it's solid enough and do a zap test. If you don't see any lye pockets, a lot of separation or get zapped, I'd say let it cure and then just use it for personal use. It's quasi-rebatched so I doubt it'll be as purdy as it would've, which is fine, but...

Do your salt bars shrink during cure?

Yea, they definitely don't shrink as much as my regular CP, but I want to get them as close to the same size/shape as the CP bars I currently sell. My silicon slab mold bar dimensions are different from my CP bars, so it's hard to compare. I'll have to measure a bar when I unmold it tonight and...

Do your salt bars shrink during cure?

I'm trying to calculate individual mold size so I can get custom salt bar molds made. I want them to shrink to be the same size as my regular bars (which I make in loafs), but I don't think my salt bars shrink quite as much as the regular ones. Anyone have experience with salt bar shrinkage? I...

Help! Need job ideas related to soap/beauty products

So, I need to get a second job a couple days during the week. I've had my own soap/beauty business for a bit and want to work somewhere I can have access to or work with beauty products and possible industry networking. I could maybe use my massage license again (not ideal), or work front...

I can't seem to make purple work! I need help!!

These were my thoughts exactly. I've never had an ultramarine morph on me, so it wasn't making sense. The finished product turned out lovely by the way, Dame. Nice swirl!

I can't seem to make purple work! I need help!!

How can you tell? I was under the impression you have to state it's an ultramarine since that's the INCI. Hm. Anywho I've never had a problem with my ultraviolet/ultramarines morphing, so guess I was the wrong person to chime in.

My first big wholesale order :-)

Congratulations! That's awesome. :) Where in CA? I'm in Los Angeles!

I can't seem to make purple work! I need help!!

I think she was using an M&P soap colorant. Those can morph in CP. And I meant to suggest ultramarine purple, sorry for the brain fart. Here is a lovely one on the BB site that shouldn't morph in CP. Its a lighter purple...

I can't seem to make purple work! I need help!!

If you have any CP micas laying around of the red and blue variety, I get a really nice purple by mixing mine together. Also, I love love love brambleberry, Dame, but be aware that they take a few days to turn over and ship out your order generally. You might be able to get expedited shipping...

Coconut oil and palm kernel oil in same recipe

Palm kernel gives hardness and lather much like coconut, but it's supposedly a bit less harsh/stripping to the skin.

    Which emulsifier to use??

Lotioners, which emulsifier do you use and why? I've been reading on the forum, and on lotioncrafter.com and the herbarie, and I want to experiment a bit. I wish they offered sample packs of their emulsifiers to try out. I've been using e-wax, which I'm honestly pretty happy with, but I want...

    "Eden's Grace" ~Gardener's Soap

Wow - bravo!! Absolutely amazing soap. The detail on top is ridiculous! The lines are so clean. Is your soap cutter a wire cutter? If so, and your soap loafs are too hard, you run the risk of damaging the cutter to be careful! I usually have to cut my loafs in the first two to three days.

How much soap do you make per day or week?

Some weeks I'm awesome and make 12+ 5lb loaves (four loaves a batch, so three soaping sessions), but some weeks I slack and focus on other things like lip balm or lotion (my new obsession). Having to make the same soap over and over is a bit tedious, but it's worth it. I'd say half my sales...
