    Crumbly soap dough

For some reason, my second batch of soap dough turned out way more crumbly than the first. I'll figure out why later, but for now I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for how to save/soften it? Should I add a little water? Or maybe Castile soap or something?

    Good emulsifier for bubble bath?

I'm working on making bubble bath, and my ingredients keep separating. What are some recommendations for a good emulsifier? I've heard that Polysorbate 80 or 20 could be used potentially, and I've also heard that cream of tartar can be used?

    Two different batters, one pour?

Update! Everything went smoothly with the tea batter & coconut milk batter. I kept the coconut milk lye solution in an ice bath to control the temp, and was sure that both batters were within 5 degrees of each other. I don't love the final design, but that was unrelated haha

    Red Velvet Cake Soap

This was my first batch of 2022 and I'm super happy with how it came out! These are for my Valentine's Day collection.

    Two different batters, one pour?

This week I'm making a Thai tea soap, and had the idea to do two batters...one made with Thai tea, the other made with coconut milk. My hope is to swirl them together to get the classic Thai tea look, but I'm skeptical about mixing two different kinds of batters. Everything about the recipes are...

    Putting a wick in AFTER?

I have both pilar wax and soy wax flakes. The mold I'm using the pink pliable kind. I'll look up those methods, thank you for your help!

    Putting a wick in AFTER?

Hello! I'm pretty new at candle making. I'm making these cute lil pumpkin candles in a silicone mold, but since pumpkin needs to be upside down when I pour the wax into the mold, there doesn't seem to be a way to add a wick to the candle. (I hope that makes sense) Is it possible to thread a wick...

    Coconut milk in cold process

I'm looking to try using frozen coconut milk in my cold process, instead of distilled water. I've been trying to research up on how to do it, and for the most part it sounds like I just need to try keeping the lye-milk solution cool so that it doesn't burn the milk. Any other tips or tricks for...

    Applesauce in CP

Just curious if anyone's tried adding applesauce into their cold process before? I found very little info about it. Bramble Berry has a recipe, but the water content seems super high to me :P

    Glow in the dark pigment

New CP soap maker here! I have some of the glow-in-the-dark pigment powder (from Nurture Soap). I've used it in M&P before, but now I'm wanting to use it in CP, and just want to know when the best time to add it to my recipe would be? Would I add it to my batter just like I would with my mica...

Why does my soap look like this?

Update! I reduced my water amount and stored in a cooler area and it seems to have helped! I didn't get the swirls quite as nice as the first batch, but no gross craquelée 😜 Thanks for the help and nice comments everyone!

    Forgot to add my puree!

If I do replace some of my water with puree, when would I add the puree? With the lye and water, or at light trace?

Why does my soap look like this?

Thank you everyone for the advice on glycerin rivers! And thank you for the sweet comments about the soap design! This was my sixth ever batch of cp soap - I've been dreaming of making cp but just stuck with m&p for the last two years while I did my research. Apparently I should have researched...

Why does my soap look like this?

Recently I've had a couple batches of soap end up with this weird crackling inside. I read somewhere that it could be from unwanted gel phasing. It's been pretty warm in my home lately, should I find a cooler spot to store my soap? I wasn't sure the best way to store soap. I've seen people put...

    Forgot to add my puree!

Thank you! I'm surprised the recipe was written like this...it came from a certain popular soap making company lol Would I replace the water with puree at a 1:1 ratio?

    Forgot to add my puree!

I've never made a cold process soap with puree before. I was so focused on my design that I ended up adding all the ingredients except for the puree! I'm wondering how it might effect the soap? Recipe: 16 oz. coconut oil 16 oz. palm oil 16 oz. olive oil 2 oz. castor oil 15 oz. water 7.4 oz. lye...
