forgot I posted on this, sorry! I render mine for 30 minutes. I don't have a large stockpot so have to do small batches...I render 2 1/2 pounds at a time on the stove top. Throw in some salt, boil for 30 minutes, drain and cool...repeat if needed. When I order the kidney suet, I have them...

I'm surprised too when I see this....I have not experienced any foul smells when I render tallow. Smells like I'm making supper! :)

yes, the first time I used Wild Mtn. Honey it seized up on me in an instant. I was experimenting with coconut milk too using the split method. Tried it again...soaped cooler, skipped the coconut milk and it turned out fine. I did not have any problems using Cran. Apple Marmalade (CP)...

after I posted that, I was assuming that's what you meant? As long as the bottle says 100% lye, it's ok to use for soapmaking. I get my lye at Menard's and Rooto is the brand they carry.

I use that brand too...it's perfectly fine to use for soapmaking.

I used the one from NG. I like it....it's pleasant, clean-smelling to me. :)

I thought they had them too, not positive though. I started a list a couple of weeks ago for some FOs...then a couple of days ago I checked back in and noticed that all the ones I had written down with their prices....all of them went up!! :x
