    Diluting Fragrance Oil

Hello, I have recently begun making car vent air fresheners. I order the clips in bulk from a wholesaler and they have a little pocket where a scent pad goes. I have been using fragrance oil and jojoba oil 1:2 ratio dilution, soaking the scent pad and then inserting into the pocket- but still...

Oils sitting on top of sugar scrub

I made my second batch of sugar scrubs and I can't seem to be able to get the oils to disperse properly through the product, when it sits for awhile a thin layer of oils come up to the surface. I don't know if this is normal or not but the scrubs I purchased never had a layer on top unless I had...

How to give sugar scrub a jelly-like consistency

I've just started making sugar scrubs and I want to be able to give the base a jelly-like consistency. I know silica gel powder does that but the prices for cosmetic grade silica gel are a little high. Does anyone else have any ideas on how to mimic this effect?

    Silica Supplier

Anyone know of a place that sells silica gel powder at a reasonable price? I bought a 1oz container for about 12 dollars and little did I know a 20 oz batch of sugar scrub needs the entire 1oz of silica so it's going to get pretty pricey. I use silica in my sugar scrubs to give it a jelly-like...

    Sugar Scrub Base

Hello, I have not yet made a batch of sugar scrub. I'm just starting to receive shipments from the ingredients I ordered. I know there's probably going to be a lot of trial and error with sugar scrub making mostly in just the oil base so I want to try to eliminate as much potential error as...

    Supplier Recommendations

I don't know if this would be the proper forum for this but I am new to soap making so I figured this would be the place to start. I will be starting off doing sugar scrubs and expanding my products from there. I did some light research into suppliers for fragrance and I can't seem to find a...

    Sugar Scrub Oil Suspension Base

Okay, thank you for your help though! That first link will definitely help. Just gotta do some experimenting. :)

    Sugar Scrub Oil Suspension Base

In the first link they make mention of using stearic acid as a way to give "body" to the scrub and it aids also in stabilization. If I'm understanding that right it sounds like it has the same results as using silica. I'm just wondering now if the 3% ratio is going to be the same for silica as...

    Sugar Scrub Oil Suspension Base

Hello, I am going to start making my own sugar scrubs and I ordered everything I need for it after researching key ingredients from an ingredients list on one I purchased from Ulta. I'm going to start with 8oz containers but I can't for the life of me find a recipe that includes all the...
