How can I protect my name?

So how many people here have trademarked there company name? It looks expensive and complicated., but it would be a pain if you started a buis and somebody stole the name.

Help me pick a name, I've narrowed it down to 4 choices!

If you google the name(I have heard) there are companies out there that immediately buy the website name hoping to sell it for a profit.

    Labeling Your Soap

This is the big thing I have been wondering about. The soaps I plan on selling are cream soaps, which use a combination of KOH and NaOH. I figured I would list the ingredients that I actually put into the soap rather than try to guess how the chemical reactions happened.

    Natural Laundry Soap (no shredding)

I made this laundry soap and it came out as a very thick gel. Is that normal, or should I add more water. I followed the recipe exactly, lard and all.

Do I really need a digital scale?

You could also use a triple beam balance. Google ohaus triple beam scale. I think they are more reliable, and are very accurate. The only problem is they are a bit spendy. Sometimes you can find them cheap used.

    Cream Soap

You can make a thicker or thinner cream soap by changing the ratio of NaOH to KOH. The more NaOH the thicker or harder. You might be able to make a fluffier soap by adding more NaOH and then whipping it up in a mixer. I would think a denser cream soap with air incorperated would be fluffier.

    Jasmine essential oil

That is a very cool resource. Where do you find reviews of them? There are a large amount of Jasmines on there.

    Critique this shave-soap recipe...(REVISED RECIPE)

Howdy Ian, I saw the cross post to B&B. I've been experimenting with cream shaving soaps for about a year now. I know people love olive oil in soap over here, but the wetshavers aren't so enamored with it. I'ld ditch it. I'ld maybe cut down on the Shea butter, and cocoa butter and add a bit...

Made my first cream soap today!!

Sorry just saw these questions. So far all the cream soap I have made still looks great. I did not add any preservatives. When/if I start selling I will add a preservative like Optiphen.

    success at making cream soap

Vitamin E is an antioxidant not a preservative. I have put it in my shaving creams, but just to make it nicer on your skin. For personal use you don't need a preservative, but if you want to sell it they recommend a preservative like Optiphen. http://www.lotioncrafter.com/optiphen.html...

    success at making cream soap

I've made 3 batches of cream soap using Failor's method. They all turned out great. The cool thing about cream soap is that you can scent partial batches differently. You can even use a spoon to stir in scents.

    I need a large enamel pot…

I think that My DW is just happy I do most of the cooking. She could care less that I use our stainless pots and Kitchen Aid mixer to make soap. I think she is also happy I've started making soap. She just started shaving with a DE safety razor and that combined with my shaving cream makes her...

Made my first cream soap today!!

I don't know how long it is shelf stable yet. The high stearic acid content supposedly makes it more stable. I have not refrigerated any of mine. I really like the thickness of mine. I'm sure you could make it thicker or thinner by tweeking the KOH to NaOH ratio.
