    hey, that's cool!

    help please...unexepected scent from EO

I purchased 1 oz of Vanilla EO (Vanilla planifolia (in Jojoba oil)) at just under $23.00 / oz. So I was very excited and hopeful to make an (expensive!) luxuriously scented soap for myself. I used my normal, tried and true basic soap recipe that I use for all of my soaps, since it works very...

    Slimy Soap

I like those little clear, mini-sized plastic soap holders that are spikey on both sides and they keep the soap up out of any accumulated water and surrounded by air. I have 3 in the shower so I can alternate bars and not have them melt into puddles of goo, and one in every soap dish in the...

    And for my next trick...

Until now I have been sticking to pretty traditional-looking soap forms, but I am also new at this. You never know what can happen...Libby's Canned Corned Beef soap would definitely be a walk on the wild side. Stay tuned!

    And for my next trick...

Re: Spam Musubi soap So is Spam Musubi kind of like sushi? That was my first thought when I saw the pic before I read the text. Now, if I could just figure out how to force my soap to "rice" on demand for the other part, I might be able to actually do that! Thanks CafeRacer!

    Colourants and sensitive skin

Re: Containers I haven't tried the Crystal Lite tubes (wonderful idea!! I drink that stuff by the gallon and NEVER thought of using the container as a mold...brilliant!) but I did try Pringles cans and I lined them with a good layer of parchment paper (cut out a little circle to cover the...

    And for my next trick...

Yep, I was wondering that too. We'll see what it looks like in a couple of weeks!

    And for my next trick...

OK, friends, as you requested: Images of "Pukesoap" for your viewing, uh, pleasure... What's really funny is the little demo-ads on PB for the merchandise that could be emblazoned with whatever image you are viewing. I think that I do NOT want a coffee-cup with a picture of Pukesoap on it...

Ridiculed for having an interest in making soap....

I got picked on yesterday for my use of the word "saponification". I DO like using that word, I think it is cool. I agree with the sentiment of who cares what people think. So far no one has turned down my free soap offerings! 8)

    And for my next trick...

OMG, really? You wanna see it? Its gross. I'm embarrassed to show anyone, but the hubs and I had a good laugh over it. I will post pix tonight after I get home. Thank heavens it doesn't smell like it looks! lol.

    And for my next trick...

Yeah, I cut up a batch of soap tonight that looks exactly like little blocks of vomit. Guess I'll be usin' those up!!

What was the last lesson the soap taught you ?

Hey! That's how mine looks now! Like a kind of deep violet. Neat. Alls well that ends well!

What was the last lesson the soap taught you ?

What I Learned Last Night: Blue colorant + soap that is sort of Yellow because of the olive oil = Green + more Blue = Grey (uh-oh) + a BUNCH of Red= a color of deep, dusty pink I can live with for my Lavender soap. Whew!

What's In Your Soap Pot This Week-End? (24th-25th Oct)

Crisco = All Vegetable Shortening. Sorry...I pasted in directly from Soapcalc and that was on their list of oils, also I grew up with the brand-name being synonymous with the product, but really I'm sure any old brand of veg. shortening will do.

What's In Your Soap Pot This Week-End? (24th-25th Oct)

ohsoap & artisan soaps: Here is the formula for the plain soap I have been making. I don't think there was anything figured in for superfatting and I haven't experimented with that yet. The first time I made it I used a recipe from a book, then found the forum and soapcalc.com, so this is...

What's In Your Soap Pot This Week-End? (24th-25th Oct)

Today, a batch of plain unscented "Matt's Special" soap in the pot right now. I am totally floored at how my little guy's skin has completely cleared of eczema since I started using my soap on him a couple of weeks ago. So now, since the experiment was a success, I am going to make sure we NEVER...
