Canned coconut milk vs. coconut cream powder

I visited an Asian store recently and after a long thought bought a can of coconut milk and some powdered coconut cream. Now I'm wondering which one to use in soap (ie. which one is easier to work with) and how. I've read a couple of different forums and some say that the canned milk...

Anybody making soap this weekend , whatcha making?

I'll make two small batches without palm oil just to compare them. I'm still looking for a good base recipe. No scents, no colors since I don't have any yet.

    My first recipe, opinions wanted

And my batch is small, 500 grams. Canola is much less expensive than olive so I would definitely like to use it together with olive. And it's domestic, too.

    My first recipe, opinions wanted

MMS calculator gave me 64 grams of lye with 5% superfat. I guess I'm going to try with 33% lye solution. That would be 130 ml of water.

    My first recipe, opinions wanted

I don't want to use any AO, but not that much palm either. After playing with Soapcalc I came up with this recipe: Olive 32% Coconut 28% Cocoa Butter 19% Canola 15% Castor 5% Soapcalc says: Hardness 38 Cleansing 17 Condition 58 Bubbly 22 Creamy 26 Iodine 62 INS 144 Fatty...

    Soapcalc values

Which is the most important value to you when you're playing with Soapcalc? Do you have INS, conditioning or fluffy as your most important one, or something else? What kind of combination do you usually use and how strictly do you follow the guidelines (eg. hardness should be 35-45 etc)...

What is your favorite thing about making soap?

As a newbie, I enjoy most seeing what pieces of art you pros have created! And then imagining myself to be able to do the same.

    Silicone molds

Anyone know a good silicone mold supplier in Europe? Log and slab kind of molds. I think I'd save a lot on postage if I found good ones closer than the US.

    Silicon Moulds

I've been wondering about the same thing. What if they lose color, or if the FO/EO absorbs into them so that they will lose scent to the next batch. Should there be a separate mold for unscented soap only and another for scented ones?

    Hi from Finland!

Hi everyone! I just found this forum maybe a week ago and have been reading it ever since (almost day and night) collecting tips and tricks to apply in my soapmaking. Yes, I'm a newbie. Just made my first two batches last Friday. I copied the recipe from a book but after reading...
