    Unpleasant smell of old soap

I've never tried, but from friends who used Chlorophylle in soaps (they used powder of chlorophylle) they told it gets rancid easily (after a few months, less than a year). Orrible smell and color getting brown. No idea if you can do anything against it.

    Anyone use this mold?

Hello! Do you think they can go in the (low temp, like 50-70°c) oven? They seem great! Vale

    EO's for soaps

Hello! I already have Litsea (sorry, I forgot to mention) and cinnamon. About Tea trea, I don't like so much its smell, so I prefer to add a few drops to the detergents than using it in soaps great, any suggestion is very welcome!

    EO's for soaps

Hello! I'm placing an order and I'm thinking to buy some more EO's (I already have lavender, cinnamon, orange, lemon and mint, also if I don't like mint in soaps so much), for the moment this is my list. DO you think those EO's are good in soaps? Cedrus deodar Pelargonium graveolens Atlas...

    Tussah Silk

I'm afraid the problem is with anything coming from outside Europe. I've orded an aromatherapy decoder, and it was blocked, since the seller wrote it was something from pharmacy on the envelope. :(

    Palm Oil

I've never used this oil, but for any recipe, I would test it before via soapcalc (you can invent your recipe, but need to calculate the lye, and soapcalc will do it for you). About the red palm oil, I've heard it's smells a bit too strong in soaps, but the smell wll fade away after a long...

    Avocado

For people using Avocado puree, how do you get it? you just take an avocado and squeeze it with a fork? a food processor? do you peel it, before? And for the quantity, 1 T (tablespoon?) for pound of oil, right?

wow, Mango Lassi!!!! I love it and I think I cannot find any soap fragrance in Europe. Unfortunately sending fragrances from USA to Italy is not allowed and they get blocked at the custom :(

    Oils at trace?

Hello! I have to pictures of the soaps I made during the weekend, it's "baby grand" from "the soapmaker's companion" by Susan Miller Cavitch. The first had jojoba and avocado at trace (I guess I didn't mix them well, after trace, but it was getting too dense), the first had all fats...

What size do you like your bars?

Hello! I don't like too big bars, because they're too heavy, and since I don't keep them in a soap holder, but I hang them under my bathroom mirror and in the shower with a magnet, when they are too big they fell down (and in the shower they hurt my feet). Ciao Vale

    Silicone molds

I would be interested in it, too. Shipping from USA or Australia is so expensive, and most stuff get blocked from the customs. ciao vale edit: I found 2 seller on ebay, they're from UK, and they seem to have better prices than in Italy. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Home-and-Kitch ...

    Oils at trace?

Thanks! So at trace I just add "additives" (FO, EO, colors...)?

    Oils at trace?

Hello! I read that it's better to add "precious" oils at atrace, so they will keep better their properties in soap. I have a recipe with coconut, olive, avocado, almond, shea butter and jojoba. Olive and coconut are at 64%, so I guess I won't have any trace with just 2 of them and lye...

    Jojoba

Hello! I'm soapmaking with a recipe I found on "The soapmaker's companion", and it has Jojoba oil at about 7%. (that's "baby grand") I've read around that jojoba at more than 3% will seize the soap. Which % do you use? do you add it at trace? Thanks Vale

    Soap Gets Mushy When Wet...

yes, of course soaps dissolve in water, but if I leave supermarket soaps on the corner of the corner of the basin, it doesn't get that transparent fluffy gel, if I leave a homemade soap there, it does (I've tried just once, by mistake, with a 100% olive oil). But supermarket soaps last less...

    Soap Gets Mushy When Wet...

palm oil or bees wax should avoid the "mushy gelly problem". (I'm not a good tester because I hang my soaps under the mirror, so they get dry and don't get gelly) Another great stuff is a "grilled soap holder" (sorry, English is not my first language, but something like the one you can see in...

    Tussah Silk

Hello! I wasn't very accurate, they are not so close, but they're in the area. I live in Milano, Italy, and they are in Como, I think it's 1 or 2 hours away by car. I really don't know what part of the process they do there, but I will ask (I have some friends in the area, I will send them to...
