    Salt Bar Blues

I want to like salt bars. I REALLY want to like them. I love the idea of them. I love the slight scrubby feel of them. However, my skin does NOT love the high coconut oil content, even with a high SF. I tried a bar again last night after a 6+ month cure. Made my skin feel almost rubbery for some...

    My new soaping room!

Spent the last day and a half getting my soaping room set up at the new house. I'm so excited to actually have a designated soap space now! Just need to build a drying cabinet and then I'll be perfectly happy.

    2 month hiatus

I've been trying to catch up the last couple days after just basically disappearing for the last couple months. It has been crazy around here. Around mid June boyfriend and I started to process of buying a house. End of June we went on vacation with friends. We rode the motorcycles from southern...

Why so many products that do the same thing?

I've spent the majority of the day researching the ingredients in one of my favorite hair products. I've looked up each one and taken notes on what they do. I would like to eventually be able to make a product that gives me similar results, but doesn't cost $24 for a 1.7 oz tube!! Here are the...

Our brand new Super Walmart opened this week. I feel like we're the last people in the world to get one lol. Kids and I went last night. I know, crazy Friday night huh? Anyway, it is a soaper's paradise! The oil section is huge! They have 16 types of coconut oil!! They have black walnut, toasted...

    Fondant mat technique question

As I've said a few times, I'm obsessed with fondant mats. Generally, I fill the mat with M&P and put the whole mat in the bottom of my log mold. But I've been thinking about trying some different things that would require the m&p to actually be removed from the mat and laid in the bottom of the...

    Proud Momma moment

I won't subject you guys to the entire concert, but here is a snippet from my oldest son's choral concert last night. He is the slightly taller, lighter hair colored one. The crazy thing is, it was just a few short months ago I learned he could sing! https://youtu.be/3fGKU1vlnPQ

    Trouble with lard soap

I finally got a chance to make my first batch of lard soap last night. I'll post the recipe in the next post, the pic is on my phone, not my computer. Anyway, I had a heck of a time with it. I mixed my oils and lye, stick blended to what I thought was emulsion, and separated out batter for my...

How does this look for a lard recipe?

Taking the lardie leap tomorrow. I've been playing around with recipes and here's what I've come up with. How does it took to you guys? ETA: Don't pay any attention to the lye or water. I didn't mess with that yet. I'm trying to get the oils down first and then will finalize with that stuff.

    BB 8 oz pump bottles

Does anyone have access to one of BB's 8 oz bottles at this time? I'm at work and don't have one here. I'm trying to order labels and need the height and width so I know what size I need. There are no dimensions on the BB website that I can find. Thanks in advance!

How quickly does Kentish Rain A?

I have a very specific design planned, and it's very important to me that this turn out. It's kind of a landscape so I'll need time to work. I know BB says Kentish Rain can A, but I'd like to hear from people who've used it. How bad is it? Do I have to worry about soap on a stick? Or are we...

    ISO Gain Original scent fo

Bf's daughter has requested everything I can possibly make that smells like Gain. I've search for a dupe, but can only find them listed at companies I have never heard from that don't offer a lot of information about the behavior in cp. Has anyone found this dupe and used it? I'm thinking a...

    Lip balm issues-Passionfruit Rose

Is there a trick to making lip balm with passion fruit rose or pink champagne sparkles mica? Or the two together? They don't seem to like each other very much. I could not get them to mix for anything. And when I finally thought I had it, they separated in the tube. Below is a pic of what I...

Once wrapped, can soaps of different scents be stored together?

Some are fully enclosed and some have open ends. Even with the ones that are completely wrapped you can still smell them through the plastic. If I store them in the same (cardboard) box, will the scents transfer or muddle? Thanks in advance!

    Cure time for rebatch

I'm sure this is not a new question, but I couldn't find anything in the search about it. If someone were to rebatch soap that had a 6 week cure, would it need to cure again or just dry out? Does the rebatch process mess up the crystalline structure to the point it needs time to reform or does...

    Which one goes where?

I need to make body butter and sugar scrub. I have 8 oz. short, fat glass jars and 4 oz. plastic jars (BB style) which should go in which jar?? I've been debating this for over a week now and just when I think I've decided, I think of something else and change my mind. I know this sounds dumb...
