    Rings?

Based on experience, is it easier to promote or to prevent gel? To be honest...anything but seeing the rings would be nicer! Haha And based off of Topofmurrayhill's post it may seem easier to promote the gel phase?

    Rings?

So If I wanted to keep it all matte and opaque I would want to put it in the fridge? Or if I want to completely gel it I could wrap the mold In towels to keep hot?

    Rings?

I've seen these rings in pictures of homemade soaps online. But what exactly do these rings mean? I read somewhere about gel phase but don't quite understand it...?

Thank you! And it smells....like lard and Olive Oil hahaha. I didn't have any scent to use. ): There is a HINT of honey smell but not much.

    Film on skin?

If it was pure olive oil castille soap then maybe I would believe her...but it sounds like she's the Kind of person who lathers up, and does a quick rinse. Personally I will rinse thoroughly for a minute or two, but it could just be her preference.

    Honey Soap!

Well that's the thing, the actual batter isn't leaking. Its a clear greasy fluid. I mean I don't mind I'll just make sure to keep paper towels underneath. But yes I just bought the mold from AC Moore as I also had a coupon! Haha. The sides are very thick, but the bottom piece is maybe 4cm...

    Honey Soap!

Thank you guys! I can't wait to pop it out! I wanted to ask...I just checked on the batch in the acrylic mold and there seems to be an oil/grease oozing underneath outside the acrylic. Is this normal? Or is there going to be a hole in my table in the morning from Lye?

    Honey Soap!

Okay so I finally made some honey soap...it came out great! But we will see...I messed up the measurements so I had to use a makeshift oddball mold. ):

Cant find Freezer Paper in UK. Looking for alternative Lining solutions.

I've never heard of freezer paper? I've been using " Wax paper" which seems to work perfect. Is that the same thing?

    Honey Soap

I was asking about adding beeswax and honey to soap in the recipes section and just wanted to ask here about my recipe (below) before experimenting! Anything I should know, or be wary of before something blows up in my face from mixing?

    All About Da Bees

Well after reading everyone's posts, it seems that 80% of people like it! Haha. This is so neat though, I may try it! Even 2% or 3% wax with a tbsp of honey per pound. I especially liked the comment that it will give a honey fragrance? Does this depend on the honey used, or can it be just store...

    All About Da Bees

Oh gawd. It will be like rubbing soap on dry skin as it pulls at your hairs? Haha.

    All About Da Bees

Now that I have made two perfect batches of soap, I am hooked. Walking around the store I always see soap with beehive or bee shaped molds which made me wonder....can you incorporate beeswax and/or honey into your recipe? I ran a simple soap recipe through the calculator (adding beeswax) only to...

    Hilbilly Soap

Thank you! I will do this (: I think I may have messed up that second batch....see the soapcalc tells to use .5oz of fragrance per pound of soap. I just pulled and cut my lavender soap today and I thought my eyes were gonna year up because the smell is so strong. If I let it cure, will the...

    Hilbilly Soap

So the first picture is my first batch I've ever made of soap. 55% Lard, 25% Coconut Oil, 20% Olive Oil. Came out great being unscented with a fantastic lather. The second picture I just whipped up today with 55% Lard, 5% Castor, 20% Coconut, 20% Olive oils. I also added .5 oz of lavender...

    Soap Dis-Color?

This is so cool! Thank you guys!!! I'm hooked. I think I'm going to leave my staple curing time 1 month. Seems pretty good. Unless it has a lot of Olive Oil... My favorite scents are honey or butter, lavender, rose/floral, and eucalyptus. Im going to definitely have to do some research and...
