How long can lye sit if sealed and unopened for making soap? Hubby found me some in the state that he is working in. Save big on shipping costs.

the biggest problem that I had when I did a big batch was pouring the soap quick enough before it got to thick. I was pouring in small containers. I would use a big mold or extra pair of hand to help pour.

Has anyone used raw manuka honey in their soap and knows if any of the medical benifits would come though? I am wondering if it could be used as an acne soap.

make some out of beer. it smells awesome!!!!! Just make sure the beer is as flat as can be and when you add lye, put the container in the sink for mixing. It will foam up even flat. My hubby didn't think much of it either, UNTILL he tried it. Now he gives it away.

I have the cheap one from walmart and it is just fine.
