    hp soap making question

So, back to my hp soaping probs after going back to my notes and reading the link about dos and rancidity (still hoping that's a word). I'm thinking I just happened to have a bad year. I did leave my soaps out longer, and even put some in a card board box. First time for that. In other words...

    hp soap making question

I've been making cp soap for a long time for family and friends. In all that time, there have been only one or two batches that have developed orange spots. Last year I tried hp processing and 4 out of five of my batches developed orange spots and also became rancid. I used the same oils I...

    Almond Frangrance Oil

Almond scent update I used the almond scent at about .8 ppo. It smelled nice but the fragrance did not linger on the skin after use. I like it to stay around a little while. Think I added too much water to my lye solution

I do cold process. And I do not usually use shae butter. I usually use just basic coconut, castor, lard, palm and some kind of oil that I have on hand. I don't check the temps of anything before I mix my lye water and oils, just feel the containers with my hands. my soap is mostly just for...

Think I added too much water to my lye solution

This recipe was so different from my usual, I wonder if I reached a false trace. Any way. I did crockpot the soap and poured it back into the mold. it is still soft and looks a little weird but it has not separated so far.

Think I added too much water to my lye solution

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I have been making our own soap for about 8 years. but I made a batch of soap Fri night and had an unusual result. I may have added two more ounces of water than the lye calc called for. What ever happened, my soap didn't completely saponify, I think, as there...
