    Carrots and Buttermilk

I do like that, alot. The colour is superb, but I love the implied gentleness of the soap......it should be a great soap to use :D

    Castille Soap

Sorry if you've already mentioned, but which grade of olive oil did you use? Castille can take an awful long time to set up.......the longest I've had mine in the mould has been approx 48 hrs.

    Castille Soap

The lather of a true 100% castille is different to that of other cp/hp soaps which utilise other veg oils. In my experience it's more lotion-like. The slime factor is down to the high oleic acid content of the olive oil, and it isn't to everyone's taste, but it does produce a lovely, mild soap. :)

    Salt bar sucks

Hi Hazel No, not had any problems going that high on the SF. Wouldn't go anywhere near that high for a normal CP/HP bar, but for a salt bar I've found it works really well. :D

    Salt bar sucks

I must admit it took me a while to 'love' salt bars, but I have to say that using one of mine after a good long cure did it for me, and I absolutely love them. 100% CO, 60%salt and 25%SF. The lather is thick and dense, not light and fluffy as you'd generally get from a normal CP bar. I love...

    I've received my first complaint

I have one of my bars in my bathroom that's been going 3 weeks and there's around half a bar left. I've used it as a general soap and as a shampoo bar......however it's been cured for approx 3 months now(100% OO). HTH :)

    Making soap with Amla (acidic)

I use amla in my shampoo bars and it's a lovely ingredient that my hair loves. I typically superfat my 'poo bars at around 4%, and use around 1/2 to a full teaspoon per 1lb of oils. HTH 8)

Natural Soaps.. Essential Oils.. how do they afford it!?

I use EO's because I prefer them to synthetic fragrance, just a personal choice :) I don't sell my soap yet, but when I do, I'll use the more expensive EO's in limited edition soaps where the prices will be higher, and the less expensive ones in my usual line :D

    coconut cream

No, as it's an additive rather than a soaping oil. HTH :D

    coconut cream

I use a similar thing, but don't count it as an oil, more of an enrichening additive. I use enough hot water to melt it down then either add it at trace if I am using fast moving ingredients, or into my oils at the beginning before I add the lye if I'm using 'safe' ingredients. HTH :)

What are you soaping this weekend?

I've just made a coconut milk castille scented with geranium, mandarin and bergamot essential oils, and made some shampoo bars yesterday scented with rosemary, peppermint and lime. :)

    Egg yolk soap

I'm really glad I came across this thread as I'm hoping to make a batch of shampoo bars today and never thought to add egg, even though I have in the past! It'll only be a small batch so 1 egg yolk will suffice....will post pics when it's demoulded and cut(probably a few days) :D
