    Activated charcoal or black oxide

I prefer black oxide for pure color, and when I used charcoal for health benefits I mix in black oxide because I find charcoal is more of a gray than straight up black, even in high concentrations. Don't let it fool you until it hardens, it'll look like pitch black but really be just gray in...

    HDPE Mold

I read on a brambleberry comment section that if you glue mylar bags to the side of the mold, you don't need to line them anymore, but no one responded to the comments there asking if anyone else tried this method. Going to ask, so did anyone ever try to glue mylar bags to the side of the...

    White Marks on SP Soap

I get those when I get over zealous with a hand blender and goes to heavy trace for me. By the way your soap looks gorgeous.

    Best cutting system?

Thank you so much, the piano wire framed ones look nice. Anyone ever try to make their own piano wire multi-bar cutter? I might try that.

    Best cutting system?

I've used a cutting mold from ebay, I knew it was wonky from the beginning since the floor slide making the soap shift during a cut. So the top might be perfect but be wider at the end. Aggravating. The system i have is only getting worse. So what system or technique do you all use?

    Citrus for lip balms?

I saw a recipe for lip balm using lemon essential oil. I thought that lemon and orange type citrus essential oils were bad because it made people burn easier in the sun? here is the recipe. http://mountainroseherbs.com/newsletter/06/lip_balm.php

Can I make good soap without tallow or palm?

The oils I have easy access to are olive oil, coconut, sunflower, and the generic cooking oils like (corn, canola, peanut). I've been making soap with this recipe. 1.5% castor 18.5% Coconut 30% Sunflower 50% olive oil. I use 0% superfat. I ran it through a soap calculator and it...

This charcoal soap is a huge mistake, right?

Why is 1 Tbsp per pound the max? I put some in at trace, it looked dark and lovely but when it became soap it was a rather dull gray once. What can I use to give it a dark richer black?

Using Matcha Powder (green tea powder)

Doesn't soaking the green tea powder with Vitamin E oil prevent it from oxidizing brown? I'd love to see a picture of the soap.

Using Matcha Powder (green tea powder)

I was thinking of making a matcha soap. Either CP or HP. The powder itself is green so I was thinking about using it as a colorant, but it got me thinking. Would the tea turn brown over time as with other herbs due to oxidation? I was thinking of mixing in green oxide just in case. Will...

    Differences between CP and HP

I want to try HP, why is there no HP forums? We have CP and M&P. Good day!

Different textures from top to bottom?

I tasted it, but it didn't zap me. First time I tasted soap, so no zap.

Different textures from top to bottom?

I didn't know a false trace would cause it to be crumbly. I know that the bottom traced enough for me to bop it a few times with a whisk to put "waves" into it. Oh well, just have to wait for my temperature gun to come in I guess.

Different textures from top to bottom?

I did room temperature mixing, so I put hot lye into room temperature oil because I am lazy, but in two days I will have an infrared temperature gun so I will do it properly. Oh they just didn't come out right, I tried to rebatch but they looked ugly.

Different textures from top to bottom?

Hello, I am new here. So far I've made 4 CP soap batches with only one success. The last batch looked perfect until I cut it. The top was nice and smooth, and then halfway through my cut the bottom half of the soap was crumbly. At first I thought that maybe the lye had settled on the bottom...
