So far I've made a half and half oatmeal honey cream bar, 2 batches of blueberry and pomegranite shampoo bars, coffee & chocolate soap rounds, and a batch of no bake fudge cookie soaps. I didn't know if the recipe would work or not, but OMG I want to eat them! Now just got to figure out what...

It would be almost cheaper to drive and meet you halfway. I figured the cost of shipping too and nearly fell out of my chair.

Okay, maybe this is a stupid question. Since all I do is handmill, I'm always fighting for smooth tops, how are you all getting them so easily?

I think it's the fact that when I hand mill, the soap is white and basically fragrance-free, so it's like a blank canvas for me. I can see why others would have issue if they had an already painted canvas to create art with. But I've seen gorgeous results from cp rebatching all the same.

I heat mine in a double boiler set up. Currently I'm buying soap from the store, not sure if it's alright to mention the brand, but a woman I worked with has agreed to make goat's milk lye soap for me if I got her everything she needed, so I'll need to weigh out the costs and see where it gets...

By the way, I love the name, I have 2 pitties myself, Chloe who is my service dog and Isabella a 5 month old sweet pea, they fit in great with the rest of the dogs and farm.

Carebear, do you add it after the melt or while it's melting?

I don't know if my opinion matters for anything since all I do is handmill and I don't make my own cp soap. For cured soap you need a fair amount of liquid something like 1/2 cup of liquid to 2 cups of soap shavings as well as adding more oils to make your finished product even richer than it...

Okay... are you all ready to dip me in the lye vat yet? :oops: Does anyone know if I can use liquid goat milk, cow milk, or creamer in place of some or all of my liquid when handmilling? I currently use powdered goat milk after the soap mixes, but to me it has a funny smell but no one...

Thank you very much for the answer Hazel. I wasn't sure and made a test batch on how I thought it might should be and left it overnight before cutting it and my daughter loves it for scrubbing her face. I keep telling her to let it cure and she keeps telling me it isn't soft at all... shrugs...

Actually no, I had a horrific accident as a child with lye and I'm scared to use it. I like hand milling to be honest. :)

Thank you both, now I just need to get everything to her, my dh is building her 3 molds to hold 8 pound batches each, so just waiting on him.
