Has anyone tried freezing their hot process soap?
I have just received this question from a friend and can't say I've tried it, yet. Their thoughts are perhaps it would preserve the essential oils.
I'm wondering if it will go mushy afterwards, and if there is any point in doing it.
too greasy and too firm
Yeah, in my opinion mine feels too greasy. I actually ended up adding more cornstarch to mine and didn't notice a difference at all. Hmmmm
Sounds lovely, let me know how it goes.
My recipes with beeswax worked out and the bergamont, atlas cedar wood and ylang ylang is really nice. The eucalptus, camphor and peppermint smells lovely too but I only put 2.5 ml, I think I would double that next time. The recipe (got it off this...
Okay, so I read through the many many threads on here about whipped shea butter before I attempted my own. I used about 2 ounces of Shea butter, probably .5 ounce of sweet almond oil and about a teaspoon of cornstarch. I melted my shea butter first to get rid of the gritties (it was necessary)...
I'm testing out different massage bar recipes and currently have three different trial bars setting.
The first has cocoa butter, grape seed oil, vitamin E and e/o (I used a ylang ylang/patchouli/lavender blend)
The second has shea butter, bees wax, grape seed oil, vitamin E and a blend of...
Yeah, you could be right since they are just plastic caps on top. I may just stick with the glass jars now or see if I can find vials with corks. Those sound attractive. Thanks for the help!

I also found the salts in by glass jars seemed to fair better than...
Feeling discouraged
Hmm, well I was thinking of making some lotion but after reading this feed and the need for a preservative I am shying away from it. I am against using any chemicals in my products especially when I call them all-natural.
I read one entry who said citric acid is a...
I use dendritic salts to mix the EO in first, then add this to dead sea salt, himilayan pink salt and epsom salts.
The salts smell and look beautiful for a month or so then have melted into a slushy mess. I have had to add them to my personal jars of bath salts as I would certainly not sell...
Hi everyone,
I stumbled upon the soap making forum last night and spent four hours reading through posts. I am hooked!
I have been soaping for about a year and a half. It is a hobby turned small business. I have sold at just two craft fairs and will be doing my third in June. I work as a...
Spirulina OR peppermint leaves
I have used Spirulina in my tea tree HP soap and it looks fantastic and has never faded colour.
I recently put ground peppermint leaves into HP soap and it looks delightful. :)
