    Super-Premium Soap?

I cooked the potatoes before soaping, and actually used purple potatoes to see if the color would come through (it didn't). For carrots, you could just puree fresh carrots and use at part of the liquid measurement.

    Super-Premium Soap?

Instead of expensive oils, why not play with inexpensive food additives? For instance, carrot EO is pricey and better in a leave on product. But fresh organic carrots from the store are about $1 a pound (for baby carrots). A small carton of plain or vanilla yogurt; a cucumber; an egg yolk; a...

    Cardamom and sandalwood FO?

I have the cardamom scents from WSP, the Cardamom True Sugar is spot on for a cardamom scent which I'm glad for as the EO is pricey! Would be great for a chai blend.

    Rebatching shelf life

I am glad to read these responses, as I've been rebatching soaps too and was wondering about using beer instead of water. I normally add dry botanicals and milk powders without much issue, but have shied away from liquids other than water. I'll give it a try and hope for the best!

    Dove or "soapy" FO?

I found a Dove dupe from Indigo Fragrance. I have ordered from this company ALOT in the past, and I recommend them. I love that they sell small 1oz sizes for trying new scents. http://www.indigofragrance.com/item_750/Dove-Soap-Type-Fragrance-Oil.htm

    Recent custom soaps

Yes be careful with clove. I used only a few drops, it compliments the bay laurel.

    Recent custom soaps

Been a while since I made a custom order, this was a barter with a friend for something she sewed for me. Black and tan beer soap scented with lime, bay laurel, and clove EO's; and colloidal oatmeal scented with peppermint and orange EO's. Color for black was activated charcoal, and the oatmeal...

    Strong black coffee FO?

I love WSP's Coffee Beans. Strong scent, don't know how it soaps in CP but have used it in MP and HP, sticks well.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Went from "not planning to make soap any time soon" with the idea being to use down the ridiculous stash I have, to writing a list of 8 different batches complete with sketches & color schemes. Blaming my friend for the inspiration lol.

    Soapy dreams for 2015???

I'm not a fancy swirl person either. It just looks like too much work for something I'm going to bathe with lol. I LOVE looking at others swirl techniques though, totally admire the patience and work they put into it. I'm just simple at heart I guess, simple colors and design, great scent combos...

Foodie scents - do you like them? Do they sell?

I'll be the oddball, I LOVE sweet foodie and bakery scents! I do draw the line though, while I don't mind using a soap that smells like blueberry muffins, I will NOT use lotion or body oil that smells like that. I figure soap is a wash off product and leaves little scent on the skin, which I can...

    HP soap love. Show yours!

I used a heavy duty silicone mixing spoon, that worked well enough. You could also use a whisk or stick blend, but since I only made a small batch the stick blender would've been a bit much. If you make a 2lb batch or more, you could probably get away with a stick blender.

OK another one - Black Pepper EO or FO?

I'm with JustBeachy on this one, if you want the true fragrance its best to invest in the EO. I have some super pricey oils, but I add as little as 1/4 teaspoon to a pound of oils and still get the smell coming through. Also a lot of oils can be skin irritants in large amounts so using just a...

    HP soap love. Show yours!

Hud, I use 5oz fluid for 15oz oils, that is with cold process though so you can go up to 6oz fluid. Use 1/2 of that as water to mix lye, and save the other 1/2 as colostrum for half way through the cook.

    Interpret a theme - Xmas 2014

Sounds like wonderful memories snappyllama. My husband makes gingerbread cookies from scratch with our kids every year for Christmas, they decorate them and bring them to the neighbors around us. Ironically, I don't like gingerbread cookies, mostly because his are rather crunchy whereas I prefer...
