Yes, I want to try that…. I’m at a crossroads and am thinking about trying to get rid of my larger tanks…. I think the gm soaps need to be made in smaller loaves. The only way I can justify the tanks is if I can come up with a good base recipe… the search goes on! Thank you for all your help!

I’m curious as to how this all turned out for you? I have same issue right now. I got it out of mold, very oily and hot spots…. I don’t think mine is “saveable”. I should have mixed longer. Looking like I have pockets of lye.

I never had these issues with my 5 lb loaves and using 100% gm. It’s all been with these 16 lb loaves. In regards, to adding gm directly to the oils, what temp do you soap at? Do you think large batches of gm is just too much too go wrong? How big of a gm loaf have you had success with?

That’s what I thought, too! I strain it directly from the lye/water tank, so I know it was clear… I do add the frozen goats milk all at once in to the lye water. I had it at a medium trace when I poured. I “licked” the spots and got zapped, but I just made it yesterday, so… ??? Some are… but...

Quick background… ran recipe thru soap maker 3. Using 50/50 lye and water and rest of liquid is goats milk. Traditional oils (olive, coconut, palm and castor). Looks like lye pockets… I want to shred and cook in the crock pot… thots? I am sure it’s not lye heavy but something went wrong when...

Plus I’m making pretty large amounts. 16lb loaves… it’s a lot of sifting and my arms get tired…

That’s kind of where I am… if extra fat chunks in my soap is the worst part?! I guess I won’t worry about it. Thank you so much for your thots!!!

Won’t go thru the mesh

I try to strain the milk/lye solution but just end up pouring it in because it is just so thick it would go thru the mesh…. I guess that’s a good thing…

What temps are you adding the milk to the oil and what temp do you soap? And, is the goat’s milk thawed completely?

I ended up buying this off Amazon. It is well ventilated so I’m hoping I won’t have to unpack between each market. Thank you for all the ideas! They really helped me narrow down what I wanted to get!

Any ingenious ideas about how to transport soap to and from several farmers markets weekly. I’ve been doing it by putting in totes and layering with tissue paper. But, if you know of some trays or other idea I’m all ears…. Probably taking between 50-75 bars
